First off, it's hilarious that you could actually rate Crackdown above MGS4 but whatever, it's your opinion so I'm not going to say anything else regarding that.
Second, 'prolly top 2' / 'far from being the best game ever' so there's a massive difference between 1st and 2nd place...?
If you take out all of the established IPs with their massive budgets and experienced teams you aren't going to be left with much in the current age of 'games cost a fortune to create'.

I think what they mean is that some missions are just pretty damn difficult to do on your own. As long as you're good enough at the game and/or try out various methods for the harder missions I don't think there's anything that would make co-op a must.
Edit: just read the review and that's pretty much what he said. If it's too difficult, just check out gamefaqs for some tips or something.
Yeah... flute/sax makes no sense. If they were determined to add a new instrument, it would obviously be a keyboard - something that actually fits into a rock band.
Have you actually got a PSP? It isn't difficult to put it in sleep mode...
I'm a tiny bit disappointed that the cutscene length is almost an hour less than MGS3 but with all the stuff already packed into a single UMD it's hardly surprising. Hopefully the game will still try to tell a great story with some excellent cinematic moments thrown in for good measure.

The demo crashed my console the third time I tried it (after the grapple glitched and shot backwards through my face). I suppose it fixes that?

Have you played it? It's the best Mario game to be released in years. As well as being an excellent single player experience, you can play it with any friends regardless of interests or skill level and have a blast.
All geniuses have some eccentricities. Be glad Kojima's is just an interest in bad angsty vampire romance novels. Plus there's a good chance this is simply a publicity thing as Twilight is the 'in' thing with girls at the moment (and you know how he likes to broaden the appeal of his games).
Can't see why the article writer is surprised. This looks like the first big FF on a Nintendo console that's worthy of the title since VI on the SNES. Still looks to be going in a different direction but also appears to have the high production values and deep story expected of a mainstream FF.
Plus the Wii is still pretty popular so the game may even sell as much as FFXIII in Japan.
Dissidia is tons of fun and very addictive so I still hold out hope that Square-Eni...
This only annoys me because it's something Amazon should be doing with all games pre-release if the reviewer doesn't sound like they've actually played it.
If it's an import or people have found the game a week early or something, that's fine. Reviews of 'This is going to be the best game ever!! 5st!!' which then provoke reviews of 'too many false reviews so I'm giving this one star' cross a line that Amazon really should keep an eye on.
I'm pretty sure he means RPG. And I wouldn't put it in the same category as God of War (hack and slash action game). It's a real-time action RPG. I think the closest association would be Oblivion? Although the way the two games are structured and played is very different.

Have you not played the Peace Walker demo yet? The controls are surprisingly perfect. They were pretty bad in Portable Ops but you've got to hand it to Kojima when he comes up with the most unique controls for the PSP on his first project (MGS:PW).
The great thing is they'd transition excellently to Uncharted on the PSP.

Judging from the Google translation I'm pretty sure the 360 controller is wired while the PS3 one isn't. Which doesn't actually make sense considering the PS3's extra USB item (which I'm pretty sure is a wireless signal receptor) suggests it doesn't even use bluetooth.
