Should, as mentioned above, worry more about getting the yields up on the 90nm chips, get their system out, and if it works as promised, let the PS3 speak for itself. From eveything I've read and people I've talked to in the industry (I am a manager at Gamestop) no real, working, retail versions of the PS3 exist yet. Why? No one knows this, either, but Final dev kits haven't been shipped, either. If PS3 is going to make it out this year, which would be good (and almost necessary) for the ...

Perhaps Sony is delaying these other blu-ray players for one of two reasons: 1. Problems with the tech that may or MAY NOT get fixed, but they have to release the PS3 before Christmas or they are sunk. If third-party players, or Sony stand-alone players, for that matter, came out before the PS3 and had significant drive problems, how well do you think the PS3 would sell then? 2. Sony wants these other players delayed so they can sell MORE PS3's, which will be basically cheaper blu-ray player...

Nintendo's "try something different" approach really works and they gain massive market share? The thing is, since 360 is already out, Japanese consumers will have to pick between the Wii and Ps3 (since obviously 360 isn't doing so hot in Japan...yet). I think the Wii will smoke the PS3 in sales in Japan. I mean, look at the arcade games Japanese gamers play-- the wiimote will be a huge hit with this crowd.

If Wii makes it out a month ahead of the PS3 (might be even longer if the PS3 is delayed again, i.e. blu-ray stand-alone drive delay announcement, rumors about overheating problems, developers lacking final dev kits, etc.) Sony could face a serious uphill battle in Japan. A year ago 70% of Japanese gamers said they wanted a PS3, a month ago over 70% said they wanted a Wii now, instead. Ouch.

The team comes up with new emulation code, then tests all the games that don't already work. The ones that work the best, they keep working on until they get it right. So some games are unintentional. They probably worked on code to make Battlefront 1 and Doom work, and this emulation code made other games, like Grabbed by the Goulies, work as well. But you are right about DOA4, for instance, since Ninja Gaiden works, DOA 3, DOA 2 Ultimate could/shoul work, but they probably promised Itag...

is already out. Where is blu-ray? Delayed again, just like the POS3 will be. Betabluray= Sony's demise as a company. HA HA.

Many developers have already stated that due to the high cost of next-gen game development, they will have to make their games on 360 and PS3 both to get any profit. The cool thing for 360 gamers is that since the 360 is already out, and it is easier to develop for, most devs use the 360 as the lead platform, then port assets over to the PS3. MOST DUAL-PLATFORM GAMES WILL LOOK AND PLAY THE SAME. In the article they mention a couple of differences between the two systems that might come into...

How crappy the PS3 games looked at E3. GT4 in high-def? What, can't make a new game for the POS3? The only decent looking game for PS3 was Assassin's Creed, which was running on a 360 dev kit. Come on, dude, face reality. Thousands of game journalists, including some that work for Playstation-only magazines/websites expressed serious concern about the buggy, crash-prone PS3 demos at E3, none of which were actually running on final hardware yet (It STILL doesn't exist). Add to this the d...

To read a similar internal email from Sony right now! It would probably be something like... "Blu-ray to be delayed again, no functional PS3's yet, chips underperforming and yields suck @$$. All Project leads are instructed to sharpen swords to use for ritual suicide by disembowelment this December 31st!"

Shut their mouths with all the hype and lies.

Xbox 360 premium + extra controller and game= less than pro Ps3

Nintendo Wii + four games and extra controller = less than core Ps3

PS3, delayed again, drive issues, sh##ty launch games + underpowered over Son'ys claims = priceless!

I guess we will find out who will win the NEXT generation soon enough. Unless the Delaystation doesn't make it out this year....

they are buying PS2 because it is cheap, they know they can't afford a PS3 now that the price is revealed. Quoting PS2 sales numbers is TRULY living in the past, you fu#$ head!

SOCOM to GRAW on 360, online and off. If Sony is smart, they will copy GRAW for PS3 and call it SOCOM: Advanced Warfighter. Sony is good at copying other people's ideas, not so good on following through on their promises!

World of Warcraft is the number one online game of all time, and people pay MONTHLY to play it. Just because a game has free online doesn't make it any good. SOCOM sucks!

Yeah, the Sony fanboys who look to a huge installed base of PS3 in Japan to overtake the 360's already posted sales numbers worldwide are in for a shock, I fear, when the Wii outsells PS3 3 or 4 to 1!

Microsoft can afford to lose money. If you think more people play SOCOM online than Halo 2, you are a complete idiot.

I think this article is like many other "leaked information" type articles on the PS3: overblown speculation based on some small kernal of fact. But, there have been so many of these type of articles lately, that added together, they make me a little afraid. I have a 360, and would/will get a PS3 if the hardware, blu-ray, and available EXCLUSIVE games warrant it. So here is my fear-- if the PS3 does end-up underperforming, instead of games looking virtually the same on PS3 and 3...

If Sony goes the "E-distribution" route, why do they need the huge capacity of the blu-ray discs for games? They don't- just a big hard drive. So all the reasons they give on why blu-ray discs are necessary for those huge next-gen games will end up being more lies?

The entire game industry is holding its breath and rooting for Sony to pull off what they are saying the PS3 can. Also, lots of movie studios, burned by UMD, are holding THEIR breath that Blu-ray pans out. Sony has a lot to lose, and so does everyone who plays games and loves movies, if the PS3 "fails." I doubt that the PS3 will fail in the classic sense, but have they put their chances of leading hardware sales in the next generation in jeopardy? You betcha. Look at the polls ...
