That doesn't necessarily means Lego City Undercover won't be appearing on other platforms, ever. It all depends on how the publishing contract was made. There could also be loopholes to take advantage of.
Take Mass Effect, for example. The first game was published by Microsoft, and still, PS3 gamers will be getting it with the Mass Effect Trilogy which is coming soon for both Xbox 360 and PS3.
I've never played the Skylanders game, so probably I'm missing something here, but... I don't understand why the toys would need to stay on the portal, or the NFC detector of the Wii U's gamepad.
Wouldn't it be enough to just put the toy near the NFC just long enough for it to recognise said toy, then let the game open whatever unlockable the toy unlocks?

Apart from what was already stated on the article, I seriously, seriously hope Ubi takes advantage of this extra time to at least consider a new angle for the single player gameplay as well. Rayman Legends was #1 on my list of Wii U games, but after reading a couple reports where apparently half of the single player campaign has been butchered to force players to use the gamepad features, I got really disappointed, and now it's passed from "must buy" to "wait and see"....
