M$ responded appropriately to the RROD issues. The other issues impacting the 360 were related to bad console design and rush to market.
Definitely the best new tech was the 3DS. The DS is proven technology with a 3D enhancement added that can be disabled.
Natal/Kinect is not even a new idea. Camera tracking is last console generation. Playstation "2" already made effective use of the Playstation Eye technology. Check the related video link below. Also search Youtube for more examples.

Honestly, Valve was starting to burn the console competition. Have you seen game prices on Steam lately? They are insane!!! Cheap and specials are run almost weekly. I think Gabe was offered something he couldn't refuse. Bringing him in house makes him less of a threat to the console market. I was looking to jump the console ship and head over to PC land myself.

Has the marketing of Enslaved even started yet? I don't want to play a game because it looks pretty. I want to play a game because it has awesome gameplay mechanics and a decent story. This game is not peaking my interest. The monkey man thing is killing it for me, and what I've seen of the droid designs is turning me off also.
I still love Heavenly Sword.
There ought to be a law against those types of productions. The superficiality of the whole thing was palpable. Like Marisa's not just a model guys, she's also a gamer. Those type of production tactics spoil the romanticism. :-( I love my games. Amanda was hotter.

Bestbuy's version exclusively came with a calendar pack for 2009-2010 (7mos still left in 2010). The graphics on calendar cards are awesome, also there is case that doubles as stand to display your cards (4x8). Dissidia was regularly priced at around $45.00 for PSP at Bestbuy. I was there to get Demon's Souls but couldn't pass up $20.00 for Dissidia.
However, illegal downloading does put the OtherOS controversy into some perspective.
I believe the same "Recession-Proof" comment was made about the call of duty franchise. Activision appears to have a knack for snuffing out the magic of what makes these games great.
I think they got fucked up when they were swayed into believing XBox's low development bar was the key to the riches.

If you haven't played Heavenly Sword (HS) in a while take a trip back for a session, or just view the E3 2006 footage below. The list of combination's you can devise in combat (if you've unlocked them all) are quite impressive. HS builds on top of the God of War (GOW) foundation in very nice ways. E.g. picking up enemy weapons and throwing them, 3 fighting stances (Speed, Power and Range), Super Style Attacks, Combos, Debris Sweep. If anything HS highlights the genius in the GOW combat system...

Kotick may be an alright guy but gamers will never know. The history of Activision's pricing, Activision and studios plus the Infinity Ward debacle make the case.
