During the VGX show Telltale Games pulled a classic bait-and-switch with the announcement of Tales from the Borderlands, which everyone was expecting to be the announcement of a new Game of Thrones series. Tales from the Borderlands will take place in the world that Gearbox created; and while the trailer didn’t reveal a whole lot, there was plenty of information in the background.
This trailer starts you off looking at a Hyperion poster of Handsome Jack, meaning that it probably takes place before the mayhem of Borderlands 2. You are introduced to Fiona – a fraud, a scammer, and someone that is wanted by the authorities; which makes Fiona a perfect candidate for a Vault Hunter seeing as they are gun-toting killers. As the trailer continues you follow Fiona and her bandit friend into Marcus’ gun shop in Sanctuary. Then, she slowly places an Atlas shield in front of Marcus. If you played through the first Borderlands than you know that during that story you defeated Atlas along with their Crimson Lance private military. Because of this, Atlas products do not appear in Borderlands 2; which leads us to believe that Tales from the Borderlands does in fact take place between the two games.
One thing that is for sure is that Handsome Jack is back; as a digitized version of himself and looking as handsome as ever. Could Fiona’s one-eyed companion be Handsome Jack? But if this version of Handsome Jack is a pre-evil version, how are there already Handsome Jack posters? Even though this trailer is only 90 seconds long, it leaves us with more questions than we thought possible. We are looking forward to seeing what Telltale Games is going to do with this new addition to the Borderlands series.
Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.
Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.
Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.
"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."
That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.
As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.
And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.
They buy IPs not talent. That's why these buyouts never work and the IPs die. Right now it's too expensive to develop games - but I expect that to shift maybe as AI tools can make it easier. The best games have been indie games for awhile as big developers fuck their ips to death with "games as a service" -

If Anthony Burch and Ashly Burch aren't involved, I have zero interest in this.
From one one the greatest rpg's ever made to a qte snorefest
aren't they making an game of thrones game to?
Knowing Telltale:
Episode 1 - January 2015
Episode 2 - May 2015
Episode 3 - December 2015
Episode 4 - February 2017
Episode 5 - Half Life 3
Doesn't interest me if its in the same style ad the Walking Dead. Although I like that game, I couldn't imagine it in the borderlands universe where I am accustomed to mayhem and fast paced action...
Wait and see I guess!
