Doom shareware was 'the number one usage application' in the US - Brutal Doom coming on May 4th

DSOGaming writes: "Ah, the good old Doom. A game that was created by a twelve-man team from Texas. A game from an unknown (at that time) company that was meant to change FPS games forever. We are pretty sure that most of you already know how legendary this game is but did you know that it was the highest usage application in the US when its shareware version was released? Oh yeah, iD’s little gem was installed – and played – to more PC systems and managed to surpass even Microsoft’s OS, Windows."

Brutal Doom makes regular Doom look like PEGI 12, ESRB T. XD I have been playing this mod since version .9 or .10.

Ahahaha...maybe because they were playing Doom envisioning Microsoft was the demons they had to slay!

...Just until the boss walked around the corner and they had to press F11 to activate the 'Boss Key' and pretend they enjoyed being enslaved to Microsoft.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.

It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.
