NowGamer: God of War creator David Jaffe shares his thoughts on where Kratos should go in PS3...
Terri writes: "In a recent video released by the creator of the God of War series, David Jaffe, we can see that Jaffe is not fond of the direction PlayStation took regarding the franchise, and in particular, Kratos himself."
Well, I personally think that Santa Monica did an absolutely phenomenal job with Kratos, showcasing insane character development in all the right ways.
Wasn't Jaffe the one who got stuck on something easy in Metroid Dread and started bashing the game because of it? From what I played of GoW 2018, they actually gave Kratos some much-needed depth. I definitely plan to finally go through the newer entries once my PS5 comes in.
This whole video was essentially him finding comments to back up his own opinion. "It looks like a lot of people think..."
Yeah, well what do the review scores, sales, user scores, and completion rates on the last two say? Anything on that?
People won’t like it I know but he’s entitled to his opinion being the games creator
I totally disagree but it’s not going to ruin the game for us who do like it
God of War's forgotten multiplayer mode was introduced nearly a decade ago, but it may have been a great addition if it was implemented now.
Not saying it was perfect but I really enjoyed it. One of the more unique MP experiences. Wouldn't mind them trying again.
Kratos has been on a rampage, killing Gods in epic battles since 2005. With each release managing to offer high-octane action, I explore each God of War title and rank every adventure from his journey to Olympus to his Norse tales of fatherhood.
I won’t rank Ragnarok just yet, although it is honestly leaving me and my wife blown away…won’t go into details right now, not done as I assume others aren’t either, maybe some of you are, idk haha.
But here’s how I rank them
5. God of War 3
4. God of War Ascension.
3. God of War 1.
2. God of War 2.
1. God of War 2018.
1. God of war 3
2. God of war 2018
3. God of war 2
4. God of war 1
Haven't played the others but about 30 hrs In to ragnarock now so safe to say if it keeps up it will end up being at the top of my list when I'm done.
I will say the pacing of the original titles and the epic feel to them I feel is way better than the new one’s. Like, I could recognize and appreciate the praise God of War received, but it bores me to tears except for the pivotal moments.
However, that being said I feel Ragnarok is waaaaay better than 2018. I’m only on Ch. 6, but it’s pretty much rocked my face off from the get-go.
I’m really split between this being my GotY or Elden Ring.
I think different games in the series had different strengths but all are great. I liked the original as it was an origin story and the mechanics were fresh. The sequel added smoother gameplay. Three was just so far ahead of it's time graphically it wasn't even funny. Plus great gameplay and bosses and insane gore and nice use of sexy time. The reboot was cool but lost a lot of what I liked about the original trilogy (I don't need my games grown up, just fun). Will wait and see with ragnarok as haven't had time to play it yet.
*Regarding a co-op mode, Jaffe added: "That could be cool. I could see that working. I'd love to see player one be Kratos and player two be this stupid annoying sidekick that - for some to be determined story reason - Kratos is stuck with for the whole adventure and in the end, once the main quest is over, Kratos just snaps the poor kid's neck."
We need more Devs with a sense of humor like him xDD.
OT:Can't wait to see who we're gonna be ripping apart in this one.
Just go back to santa monica Jaffe its where you made your best game.
Damn it Jaffe, I would like you if you weren't so damn critical of story and the advancement of the interactive medium.
you know how I see co-op working in god of war.. Imagine with me 4 gods (4 players playing online) in a very big colosseum and infinite monsters coming from every side after big gates opened up. you the four gods have to stick together to stay alive. or you the four gods could fight together one giant titan imagine how epic would that be to do a 2 or 3 players combo on a titan to bring him down in mashing button mode. to sum that up god of war have this only chance to play co-op either online or local I don't see god of war story working as co-op. santa monica hire me I promise I'll deliver XD.
No disrespect to Jaffe but that's a pretty terrible idea. Especially the co-op idea. I'm glad he's not in charge of the series.
