Destructoid - Victoria II: A House Divided Review

Destructoid's Joshua Derocher writes, "Victoria II: A House Divided adds 1961 as a new starting point to Victoria II. This puts you right at the beginning of the American Civil War, meaning you can pick the Confederate States of America as your faction. This expansion is about more than just the Civil War, though. It also gives us a new user interface, better revolutions, new ways to initiate wars, and more reasons to play as an uncivilized nation.

If you're a Civil War buff then you'll be drooling over the contents of this expansion, but even without the Civil War content there are still enough interesting changes to make this one of Paradox's best expansions."

Victoria II: Heart of Darkness Coming Next Month

Paradox Interactive recently revealed Heart of Darkness, the second expansion for Paradox Development Studios’ Victoria II, a detailed political/economic simulation of the Victorian Age. Heart of Darkness, as its name suggests, focuses on the Scramble for Africa, the late 19th century rush for newly discovered wealth and land in a continent whose interior had been mostly free from European domination.

The Worst Video Game Box Art of 2012

Ryan Clements and Brian Altano:

As we mentioned in our Best Box Art of 2012 feature earlier this week, games boxes are dying as the industry lurches towards exclusive digital distribution. All the more reason to celebrate the great box art we see dotting store shelves. And while we're at it, why not have a little fun with some of the... um... less than great ones?

Face it: not all box art is created equal, and that's okay. No matter how bad the packaging, the game within can still stand on its own. Remember, awful front covers can come from a lack of time, resources, and direction. We've tried to avoid the easy targets here (like baby raising shovelware and horse petting simulators) and instead went after some of the bigger games that definitely could have (and should have) been represented better.

So let's have some fun. After all, it's just video games. Here's the worst video game box art of 2012.

Persona 4's Box art is cool. WTH is this clown smoking?

Typical western media making fun of Japanese culture. I think it was suppose to be a joke but they could have at least picked a different boxart than Persona 4 Golden's.

I'm surprised they didn't show a cover showing a scantilly clad underage anime girl character cause that usually offends western media.

I can picture the Japanese IGN equivalent showing a boxart of Gears of War or Bioshock Infinite & say "Hahah America!".

probably meth while sniffing glue.

the guy is obviously out of touch with the reality.

WTF? Persona 4 Golden doesn't even look that bad.

Code of Princess fits the "Japan" stereotype more than P4G does -_-

COP's cover is at least clean though. You can tell what the hell is going on.

PS4 had people coming from every direction with all different colors and patterns that clash instead of flow together.

It doesn't suck, but it could be a little more minimal.

Okay while I admittedly laugh at the resident evil 6 comment the persona 4 golden comment offended me because that cover is just fine as is but then again they are called IGNorant no surprise here
