With the recent discovery of the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning version of online passes, people have taken up arms on both sides, denouncing or supporting it. Amalur‘s online pass contains access to a series of quests and rewards which would otherwise be locked from the player. The content is rather short and more closely resembles DLC, however, the problem is that the content is already on the disk. And the real kicker is that apparently, that content is unlocked and available in the demo. Normally I would be fine with extra content in new copies, but the quests were removed from the game just to make it into an online pass. Then you get games like Dead Space 2 which have development resources taken away from the single player and diverted to creating a multiplayer no one asked for. All of this just so they can justify and online pass. It is understandable why people would be infuriated, but the greater problem is that the online pass model is severely broken.
EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.
Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.
No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"
I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.
Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."
Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection
thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.
Today Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson provided a look into his ideas for the use of generative AI in the company's development processes.
EA is still a shady shitty company even with or without the help of Skynet. All they will use AI for is new ways to milk loot boxes and come up with the same sports title with a different year on the label. They are one company I truly do hate with a passion. They single handedly ruined some great franchise with their death touch. ME, Dead Space, Alice Returns, Dante's Inferno.
EA layoffs followed by 'Generative AI to Drive Monetization'
I knew it. Wonder what AI salary looks like? Nothing.
And take away creativity, and people's jobs as we've been seeing. Got it.
No thanks. I want my games created by people, not AI.
EA doesn't want to lose their title of worst gaming company ever, always trying their best to remain the champs!
What's sad is that they have so much potential to be a decent publisher.
SSX Tricky / SSX 3
Def Jam Vendetta / Fight for New York
NBA Street
NFL Steet
Mirror's Edge
Bad Company
Burnout 3 / 4 / 5
Remember when EA used to be awesome? It's all over with now. Unpolished, if not out-right broken games these days. Endless monetization and gambling in their sports games, and let's not forget wasting hours of your life trying to unlock characters or equipment using "surprise boxes!"
Ever since they changed it to 2 PS3's per account, online passes have been extremely annoying, even though I buy most of my games new. I can't play on U3 on anymore than 2 PS3's. So even though I got it new, i'm still being punished.
I borrowed BF3, and I couldn't even trial the MP before I bought the pass. I ended up getting the pass because I liked BC2, and I hated BF3's MP. If I could have trialed it I wouldn't have got it. They didn't deserve the sale.
F*ck online passes, F*ck the publshers that use it, and F*ck the people that support them. Remember the rumour that the 720 will not allow used games? That will happen because people defended it.
The trend seems to be - lets make a game , lock off parts of it to justify online pass , lock more of it to milk some more cash for dlc thats on the frikkin disc , no avatar awards - yet they manage to have avatar stuff for sale on the market place.I can remember when we played through games and got rewarded with unlocks - extra costumes , weapon skins etc - now the games industry is reaching new lows with devious ways to milk gamers for more cash, even having dlc avaliable on marketplace before the games even hit the shelves!!!.Im going to be very choosy about what games i buy this year - fed up with paying £40 to beta test a game thats been rushed / chopped
- waiting for patches and worst of all - the p.r twats games publishers employ to bullshit and make excuses to calm the angry mob - no other industry gets away with it - its about time the games industry gets some type of legislation to protect consumers from getting ripped off.It should be illegal to charge extra for content thats already on the disc and if the games released unfinished there should be a returns/ refund policy i.e - the game is not fit for purpose.
