Last week MMOCrunch reported on a rumor that the entire Faxion team was laid off and it appears the rumors was true. Today on the Faxion forums the official announcement was made by a UTV employed confirming that Faxion will indeed be closing its door shortly.
With great power comes great responsibility and that is also true to the studios behind some ambitious free-to-play games. However, sometimes the ambition is just too much and some promising games fail before the dust even settles down. Or there was some miscalculation along the way and players didn’t correspond as expected. Whatever the reason, some games didn’t stay long with us.
I'm going to go ahead and call the company that actually managed to delete all characters and game data from it's server by mistake the biggest 'blunder' in MMO history, much less this year.
It was a game with no English release, so we never heard of it over here.
It appears the Faxion Online is pretty much dead at this point if rumors turn out to be true. Over at the Faxion Online forums, a member posted a quote stating the source was “a UTV employee (Faxion team) who just got layed off“.
Gamasutra: Development and support staff from True Studios, developer of free-to-play MMO Faxion Online, were laid off last week as UTV Ignition continues to stray away from internal development.
I never really had any high hopes for this mmo, to me at the time it just look like another mmo, really wasn't anything unique about besides heaven vs hell theme.
Wonder did this beat APB(first version) death record?
