Strange decision :S as long as the game is good i dont really care

Slayer OP4822d ago

Very disappointed here. I wanted them to add DLC for higher level players. Once I dominated DS1 afer 3 playthroughs, the game became childs play. I hope they at least have better level scaling this time...

GrieverSoul4822d ago (Edited 4822d ago )

@Slayer OP
In Demon Souls, if you keep cycling the game, it becomes harder and harder. Though you might be high level, the enemies scale with you. I grinded so hard on my first playthrough that my second one was a breeze. But on the fourth playthrough, it became really hard again.

On topic, I think thats a good decision. It just means they did everything they wanted to do with the game. If DLC comes, it will be fan service and not milking. I think its a great decision.

Daver4822d ago

From Software have no time to loose for this, They have Demons souls 2 to make! :)

NovusTerminus4822d ago (Edited 4822d ago )

That's okay. Most companies are just selling $10 unlock codes because the DLC is on the disk.

So I prefer no DLC as opposed to getting ripped off.

Simon_Brezhnev4822d ago

I know right im getting sick of DLC this generation. Last gen on pc it was called free updates.

FriedGoat4822d ago (Edited 4822d ago )

so true *wipes tear from eye*
and bubbles.

skyward4822d ago

DLC or no DLC? Fine. Talking about DLC - for any game - 3 months before the actual game is out? Out of order. 'Day 1 DLC' is the worst trend in games right now.

SuperLupe4822d ago

Yeah Ive always found thhe concept of "day 1 dlc" outrageous.

DaReapa4822d ago

"Day 1 DLC' is the worst trend in games right now."
I find DLC, period, to be among the worst trends in gaming right now.

Skate-AK4822d ago

Thats kinda weak this game could benefit from DLC if done right. Maybe that means the team will have their hands full working on Dark Souls 2 or the successor after launch.

LoaMcLoa4822d ago

I find this positive. Now we get the whole package!

Better now than never! good work japan for making it a worthy endevour and career.

Check the western side and they just hired a lead director who fits their dei agenda who...doesn't like guns....for halo.

What did anything in this article have to do with your weird politics?

DarXyde20d ago

Based FromSoft.

It's kind of sad when the "Get gud" studio shows this kind of grace, but other companies that are more popular with less effort and higher profit margins are axing employees and blaming them.

Ubisoft as a publisher wonders why we hate them.

Because... Skill issue.

They aren’t for everyone and they know that. Get good

Michiel198922d ago

"By offering games with different mechanics or themes, FromSoftware could attract more casual players who may not be interested in or able to handle the difficulty of its core titles. A game that focuses more on narrative and discovery rather than combat difficulty could draw in this group."

yeah no thanks. They have a specific style of making games and they don't compromise on it, that's what makes them so popular and now this guy is saying they should stop doing that and make the game for players who don't like their games. Also Souls games are very much based around discovery, except you don't get it shoved in your face like with every other game and that is refreshing and it has very much a narrative in the same way it does it's exploration, the 2 are linked with eachother so let's not have them make games that every other studio already does, it's not that hard to understand. This bs with the game needs to be for everyone is what's causing games to get worse, in turn the games will be made for no one because you want to please everyone.

Inverno22d ago

Yea but they could take a break from souls-like and make another 3D Dot-like. Funny how you and most From fans have a problem with people asking for a break from the usual formula but don't realize y'all are basically gatekeeping. I'm all for a game about exploration from FROM without the grind of Souls. They build some amazing worlds to get lost in and if they made something less Souls and more focused on the other aspects of their games then that would probably be pretty successful for them.

Michiel198921d ago

if they want to make a 3d dot heroes 2, i fully support them, but they shouldn't do it because they want to attract a bigger audience, they should do it because they think they can make an amazing game and that in turn will attract a bigger audience instead of having them make games to tick some boxes on your inclusivity agenda for every type of audience.

Pepsi_Man300022d ago (Edited 22d ago )

I'm always down for developers trying new things. No dev should be stuck doing one type of game. I'd love for them to do more silly shit like metal wolf chaos or another action game like otogi. Try new things and maybe one or more of those new ideas blows up too and then you'd have even more money makers to work with instead of just relying on the one or 2 series you've been doing for decades

jznrpg22d ago

Make what you want but don’t chase casuals.

thorstein22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

"FromSoftware has mostly developed action RPGs recently and has shown versatility with games like Armored Core"

Right.

And no one told others to follow From Soft.

Stay in your lanes, imitators.

CrimsonWing6943d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Souls-likes are its own genre, in my eyes.

It has no bearing on games like Spider-Man, God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, hell any Platinums game and whatever other action games coming out.

It’s a successful formula, there’s an audience who enjoys the games, it’s relatively a new genre in comparison to its contemporaries, so it makes sense that devs are making them.

What I think the author is really trying to say is they personally don’t enjoy all the souls-like games they see releasing and want to blame From Soft for making that a successful genre.

They ignore all the other action games that released or are releasing like, Wolverine, for example.

fsfsxii43d ago

Lmao how tf? Its developers who are so afraid of branching that are hurting the action genre.

Pedrof43d ago

FromSoftware is only responsible for their own work, not other developers'.
