Nordcurrent, a European game developer and publisher, announced today that its new Minis game, Monochrome Racing for PlayStation Portable (PSP) & PlayStation 3, is now available to download on the PlayStation Store in North America and in Europe. Monochrome Racing is a unique racing game that takes place in a black and white world. And since the world is black and white, colour becomes the scarce resource that players compete for.
James Hamblin of Brash Games writes "I have to admit that, when the lists of PlayStation Minis games available for review are sent round the Brash Games staff, I’m not always totally au fait with the subject matter of many of the titles".
Monochrome Racing offers twelve different vehicles, all of which can be upgraded in terms of weaponry, armour and power-up usage, all of which apply slight cosmetic changes to the vehicle. However, these changes are more evident outside of the game itself, as the actually races play from a fairly distant top-down viewpoint.
PushSquare: "Despite having an interesting visual style and some neat ideas, poor execution leaves Monochrome Racing feeling completely unrefined. The game’s careless upgrade system and abhorrent AI leads to a flat, unsatisfying experience that’s not even worth the budget asking price."
