F.E.A.R. 2 was just an average shooter in my opinion, with nothing scary about it and a rather boring multiplayer element. It was also a stupid, massive grind if you were interested in getting platinum. F3 is still an average shooter but it adds some things that are a lot of fun to the mix, making it a better game than the last installment. Day 1 Studios have implemented a point system to the single player which helps you to level up your character. The points are based on different actions you can do during a mission such as killing a certain number of bad guys with melee or finding psychic links around the level. This point system gives you a lot more to do besides just shooting people to get to the next level. On top of that, the game has a proper co-op campaign which is missing from even the biggest shooters (COD: CO, Killzone 3 is only offline).
DualShockers Writes "F.E.A.R. 3 (or F.3.A.R. if you’re a marketing executive) isn’t a great singleplayer game. It’s fine, competent even, but Day One Studios had an unenviable task in trying to wrap up Monolith’s F.E.A.R. series. With two timelines and two highly different styles of horror attempted in its wake, F.E.A.R. 3, well, it tries its best."
F.E.A.R. 3 wasn't even really a horror game when it came to the campaign. It was a good action game, but lost just about all of its horror roots along the way.
There have plenty of great horror games, but others haven't been so lucky as to stick around. They deserve to get a new lease on life.
That was probably the first time ever that I saw Castlevania in a list of horror games.
ps: Be warned, you have to click a lot to see every game in the list. I stopped after the 4th time.
What is divergent co-op and how could more games benefit from it?
Linky no worky :(
dident really like the game
it looks boring and offers nothing new
i also hate the cross aim
Not enough good horror games imo. The first Dead Space was amazingly frightening. At 1 AM. With no one home. With the lights off. Try it, it'll scare you more than any horror movie out there. FEAR 3 doesn't have this same property unfortunately.
Also, am I the only want who would love a new Manhunt. I know the reasons why it would be a terrible idea financially (sigh...), with all those bloody parental agencies and stuff, but it could be amazing.
It plays better than Fear 2 but then fear and fear 2 were never that great to begin with. The J-horror scares are now routine and still don't tie in with the actual shooting parts much. (well you eventually get to fight a shoot the weak spot monster but still...)
It can be fun to use the slow motion and sliding around effects, Paxton's telekinetic possession stuff adds a little bit of flavor if you want to play the levels again with a different set of offensive skills, and the coop modes are suprisingly decent.
I'd give it a solid 8. It's nothing special but it's still pretty decent if you like FPS games.
