You should buy the GOTY edition(despite the fact that it never was GOTY, weird) before the second one because it's fantastic and includes the huge dlc packs released for the game.

Probably THE best new IP this gen if you ask me. I'm glad there is a play counter in the game, because I'm happy to say I've played Borderlands for over 150 hours between all my characters (maybe thats a bad thing)

I had so much fun that when it was over I was kinda sad. So last month I ended up buying the GOTY edition, and now I have both copies.

I'd guess you're missing the article. You click 'Read full story >>' to see it. No one implied that the picture revealed borderlands 2, apparently the gearbox ceo said it was being developed.

What WAS the "slip of the tongue"? Based on what was actually said, it could fuel speculation as to whether he meant to say it, what is in the game, when it might release, etc. By not giving any actual words and context, we have nothing.

Me too. The first one was and still is a blast. I think I should replay it and maybe get some DLC while I'm at it. :)

they just need to improve these things in my opinion and we have our self a GOTY in 2012 or whenever it comes out.

and please the end boss can't be a wuss. some of the bosses you encounter during your first 15 levels are much harder than the last boss

and level cap should be above 70 to start with and with all the dlc it could go as high as 90 if not 100

you remember when most games were being delayed because of COD in 2009 both borderlands and uncharted 2 which both came out right around COD and yet both did quite well

patcher said many times before release that borderlands will not sell because of COD and millions tend to differ with his opinion

I played the hell out of this game too, but you hit the nail on the head. There is room for lots of improvement.
The quest system and story was boring and there was just no incentive to give a **** about what you were actually doing.. I wonder if anyone out there actually read the quests instead of just skipping the text and following the map to the destination points.

Aside from the story the other problem with the game was the repetitive environments and enemy types. They really need to raise the bar in this department and create a unique world with varied areas and enemies.

Main thing is, I don't want Borderlands 1.5. I want a true sequel.. this game has amazing untapped potential.

I agree with the grinding part, I loved the game but I didn't enjoy killing the same boss over and over and over again just to level up.

In Borderlands 2, I hope they create some sort of challenge mode.

Can't wait for this beast of a game anyway.

Just need to add a more involving story and make it feel more alive. No more text explanations of what you need to do and what you have done. I'd also like to see a few more vehicles and to have the menus and inventory tidied u.

I really hope they add a character editor ( do not need to be very complex, just enough to add some more personalization ) or two/three new characters.

In my humble opinion Gearbox should put some other veicles, and improve controls. It would be cool to have motorbikes and sidecars too.

Got the COMPLETE GOTY edition(all the download content on a disc)for $20, definitely worth it.

I hope the next game has more character customization options.

All the content is on the disc? That's what has stopped me from buying another copy, I thought codes were included. I already bought the DLC but it would be nice to have a physical version.

Yeah, they ended up changing that after fans complained, but it's kind of hard to tell the difference between which one has it on the disc and which one has the codes. I think you can tell by what's written on the front of the box, but it doesn't tell you directly that it's on the disc.

Also I read that the ones that had the dlc on the disc, ALSO had the codes in the box, so extra dlc I guess.

Biggest "Duh" today. They were seriously contemplating releasing MORE DLC even after the GotY edition released.

And of course the CEO is going to want to milk a franchise. They don't do any of the work. Ohhhh they talk to investors and publishers. You're a banker then, not a developer.

I absolutely could NOT have played through the first Borderlands in single player. But with my buddy Mike it was great fun. Was a mixed drink of different games all blended into something original. I would only ask for character customization, and possibly more story that's easier to follow.

I would like:

A coherent story

Weapon customization and not just a ton of guns (scopes, attachments, etc.)

A more intricate skill tree

A world that feels more lived in/alive (everything seemed kind of stagnant in Borderlands) and that is more open

And finally...armor

Myself and 3 friends picked up the GOTY Edition in a Steam sale. For the first 30 levels or so, despite some insanely appalling vehicle based missions, we were having some serious fun.

Then it hit us, nothing was going to change. The game remains easy, no enemies require any special tactics beyond "Shoot them in the head/back for a critical hit" and though co-op in nature, there isn't a huge amount of cooperation other than coordinating which enemies to attack first, second, third and so on.

The game looks great and has massive promise for a sequel however and I can't wait for a proper reveal.

I was at the Gearbox event this weekend and Randy did not mention Borderlands 2. He talked about implementing a system in Borderlands 1(pc)that would allow a select few in the Gearbox community to have access via a patch and cloud based servers to some of the tools used in house for random gun generation and things like turning off gravity to see how physic would react. This would basically be a grassroots way of testing for bugs and general community feedback for future Gearbox titles. Everyone freaked out and took this as an admission of the existence of BL2. As fans we are all excited for the prospect of BL2 and Gearbox would be silly not to make one having sold 4 million, but it was not as dramatic as the headline makes it seem.
