IGN - EA's Worst Nightmare: Madden NFL 12's Cover

IGN - EA had a smart idea to kick off Madden's annual showing. Create a 32-player bracketed tournament and let fans vote for the cover athlete.

I seriously feel that the article is overstating the importance of the cover athlete. Out of the many ppl I know who buy Madden every year, I do not know a single person who decides based on the cover athlete. Besides, Vick already paid for his crimes and served his time.

I know a few people that just get a good quality picture to slip into the game. Usually a player on their team you can find a lot of made up ones for each year. If I bought madden every year I know i'd always have a Dallas Cowboy player on the front! = )

I could easily see moms who informed about who is who in the NFL knowing it's Michael Vick and not buying it for their kids...heck, it's the year for Madden for me (alternate Madden and NCAA most years except some I don't buy either) and I hardly want to buy it because it's got that ahole on it who deserves to be fought every day of his remaining life (sorry, dog person...lol)

That being said, I think they're overblowing it a bit....

i think they finish the voting and then put another star RB or QB on the cover along with the winner. even things out a bit .

They should just do a printable version of your favorite athlete. Like say they have a vote on the most popular player for each of the 32 teams and they will be the cover athlete for that team. That way fans can download and print there team's cover athlete for there copy. Now i'd much rather do that than them doing this. I want some of what EA was smokin to come up with such a bad idea.

People need to get over the Vick Thing, There are players in the NFL that have and involved in Killing People (HUMANS).. No ones all over these people... Vick Paid and still paying the Price, he came back and was incredible for the Eagles.. I'm a Falcons Fan I'll back Vick all Day.. (unless it's Falcons vs. Eagles then he needs to get hurt lol)

Well even better to add on to my last comment. They could strike a deal with gamestop or bestbuy where you just tell them when you purchase the game what team cover athlete you want and they print yours out when you purchase the game. Heck or even go the rout if you preorder the game tell them what cover you want. Heck EA might need to hire some new pr guys :p How bout me EA ;)

I wouldn't vote my favorite player to the Madden cover. That curse is all too real, and as a fan I wouldn't risk it.

I bet nether will grace the cover Hillis is a not Cover material yet (may never be unless the browns win a Superbowl and he puts up huge numbers that year) and Vick sorry great player but the press and PETA will be all over that you mind as well put OJ Simpson on the cover if your going to put Vick

WOW this dudes buthurt!!!Calling Michael Vick a dog-killing parriah and say the community screwed EA is just absurd.The people voted and it looks like alot of em vited for Vick.I don't think he'll be on the cover though, even if he does win the majority vote.It's up to EA though.A majority of players don't even want to be on the cover because of the lockout and the Madden curse so there might not even be an NFL player on the cover.
