Nvidia GeForce GTX 590 Review: Dual-GPU Wars

With AMD's Radeon HD 6990 stealing the performance crown only two short weeks ago, we knew it wouldn't be long before Nvidia answered the challenge. The company's GeForce GTX 590 was a poorly guarded secret, with specifications leaking as far back as last fall. Today marks the flagship's official launch and needless to say, we're excited to see how it stacks up to AMD's dual-GPU offering.

Both AMD and NVidia failed with their dual GPU cards. Honestly, I'm not surprised though as there can't be a huge market for these as crossfile/SLI is a much better path. I wonder if they just make these for publicity as I can't imagine they even break even on these beasts.

Basically, interesting, but impractical.

These cards are selling like hotcakes!

a single card is always better than a Cf or SLi set up because it has NO micro stutter and the drivers tend to have less issues than a dual card set-up. plus your only taking up one PCIe slot, cooler temps and lower watts.

sure a CF or SLi set-up may have better performance numbers which in this case only a 580gtx Sli and Hd6970 CF set-up being the only two but the convenience of 1 card is more appealing especially across multiple monitors in which case that's what these cards are made for.
