Jam Sessions gets 9.2/10 from GameZone

These days, between the mainstream successes of Dance Dance Revolution, SingStar, and especially Guitar Hero, music-based games are all the rage. Titles that would have been niche releases just a year or two ago are now mainstream hits - just ask Elite Beat Agents. Their current popularity also allows more obscure titles a shot at a major release. This is the situation regarding Jam Sessions, a program for DS that began its life as "Sing and Play DS Guitar M-06" by Japanese developers Plato. The program was picked up by Ubisoft, who made significant improvements before releasing it in America and Europe.

3 Games to Indulge Your Inner Musician

NoBSGamers writes: "One of the biggest arguments against games is that you are just following a set path, you don't create anything. While one could make the same argument against watching TV, or even point out that at least games help you with your path planning and logic skills. Hmm, Electroplankton is also a good DS game for just messing around but it's rare and expensive, luckily enough it's being rereleased on the DSiware!

Jam Sessions looks interesting enough. What's funny is that I was thinking of getting Guitar Pro for the PC. I might as well go for Jam Sessions. Looks like all the important chords are there.

You should seriously get guitar pro. Jam Session is a game and GP is a program, and if you want to learn how to play the guitar you should go for the latter. That you're even considering Jam Session is incomprehensible. GP has TONS of free tabs for download for almost every song you could think of

You're right. The tabs and MIDI interpretation might be worth my time. Thanks man, I was weak. (and cheap). I'll swing by my music store sometime this weekend while I pick up some more loose sets of strings. Bubbles for ya.

If you have an inner musician inside of you then you would actually pick up a real instrument. You cant be a musician from playing games..

Daft Punk played on Nintendo DS

Okay… so he also uses a Midi keyboard, and a theremin (which is by far the coolest modern instrument)… but the whole thing is being controlled by a DS playing Jam Sessions that's hooked into a computer running Ableton Live . Pretty impressive if you ask me.
