Infamous 2's Mission Creator

If you thought the original Infamous ran out of missions too quickly, developer Sucker Punch has you covered. Infamous 2 is going to let you create your own missions. Right now at GDC, Sony is unveiling a brand new system in the sequel that will allow players to place enemies objects and more to create your very own challenges that pop up in New Marais. A trailer listed missions that included: Defense, Escort, Search and Destroy, Survival, Shooting Gallery, Platforming, and Obstacle Course.

sweet cant wait for this game c'mon already

Headquarters114804d ago

FUUUUUCK, I would've loved a free roam multiplayer mode like in GTA and Red Dead. This is disappointing.

2fk4804d ago

No need bro....this game really doesn't feel like a mp type of game im actually just looking foward to single player with lots of DLC hopefully

blumatt4804d ago (Edited 4804d ago )

Online multiplayer is NOT needed for a game to be great. Regardless of what some people would say this generation, single player experiences aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

And, personally, I've grown tired of online multiplayer lately. I'll hop on some KZ3 multiplayer or some CoD4 Team Deathmatch every once in awhile, but not that often. I've been a single player guy the last couple months.

vickers5004804d ago

@blumatt

Sure, inFamous doesn't need it, but it would make it 1,000 times better. Nothing too complex, just something easy like Saint's Row 2 had where a player can drop in or out of the world.

I'd rather have that than a mission creator.

-Alpha4804d ago (Edited 4804d ago )

Something as simple as sharing your created levels online would be really cool, but this is a very creative feature already.

Imagine creating little time trials and having leaderboards for your custom missions :O

You don't need to have a competitive MP to have a unique online component. I remember hearing a rumor/reading an article on SP hiring folks for MP so I have my fingers crossed

ExplosionSauce4804d ago (Edited 4804d ago )

No, it would not make it 1000 times better.
Think about how that would play out.
In other games, any faceless character can pick up a gun and shoot it.
But they all can't play just like Cole.

@Alpha-Male,
Yes.

sikbeta4804d ago

Freaking Sweet, next step, Share on-line pretty much like LBP levels, that would be totally awesome...

Headquarters114804d ago

Not competitive multiplayer, I mean, just exploring the city with a friend would be very cool I think. It would make the game much more awesome.

nickjkl4804d ago

im suprised just how many people are against any kinda of multiplayer

Steffl3r4803d ago

@ blumatt
I feel you but then again it sounds like your just playing more of the same old stuff over and over just for Killzone and CoD4. First Person competitive burns out after awhile. Give Red Dead Redemption or Assassins Creed Brotherhood a shot if your looking for something with a little bit of originality. I was in the same position awhile ago being burned out on multiplayer but I haven't been able to put either of those two down for quite some time.

vickers5004803d ago

"No, it would not make it 1000 times better."

Uh yeah, it would.

"Think about how that would play out.
In other games, any faceless character can pick up a gun and shoot it.
But they all can't play just like Cole. "

First of all, they wouldn't necessarily have to, second, what would be the problem with that? Going around the city blowing sh*t up with a friend, killing civilians/enemies creatively, tackling missions together, or just have a brawl between each other when you get bored. Something like that would make the game 1,000 times more fun and replayable.

A mission creator, while cool, is going to get old FAST if you can't create your own environments/levels.

What would be wrong with having two Coles (or a differently skinned person with the same ability, perhaps kessler) running around blowing crap up when you're not doing missions? Would it really pain you that much to see more than one person running around with the same abilities?

The story in inFamous is interesting/entertaining, but it's not anything like MGS4 or Bioshock where if you see something out of place, it takes you out of the immersion.

I really couldn't give a crap about some team deathmatch bs, but having the ability to have a friend drop in after you're done with the story and go around creatively causing havoc and mayhem would make the game MUCH MUCH better. Better than some mission creator which is probably going to get old, unoriginal, and repetitive very fast.

QuodEratDemonstrandm4803d ago

Multiplayer? Really? Not InFamous. You have DCUO for that.
@2fk WTH do you need lots of DLC for? It's got "Play, Create, Share." I'll make some extra missions for you and you won't even have to pay for them.
@ the boneheads hoping for the option to play created missions.... READ THE FRAPPIN ARTICLE. You CAN share your created missions, and you CAN play other people's created missions.

@ the article: Coooool.

infamousinfolite4803d ago

So in other words, you want a MP component where it only features one super-powered guy??? And even if there is another super-powered being it would get boring just to have one guy be the same villian/hero each time they play. MP would not fit well unless the story has you meet with some friends and together they create a Band of Super-powered Beings.

RyuCloudStrife4803d ago (Edited 4803d ago )

Yeah I agree 100% with you dude that would be WAY better what your suggesting about the multi-player...this already is out the door for me as I'm not the type that be creating levels and whatnot in a game I leave that to designers... But as you said this:

"First of all, they wouldn't necessarily have to, second, what would be the problem with that? Going around the city blowing sh*t up with a friend, killing civilians/enemies creatively, tackling missions together, or just have a brawl between each other when you get bored. Something like that would make the game 1,000 times more fun and replayable.

What would be wrong with having two Coles (or a differently skinned person with the same ability, perhaps kessler) running around blowing crap up when you're not doing missions?"

sounds WAY better :).. oh well inFamous 3...

EDIT: Its RLY stupid/funny how people where like MP before the reveal or whatnot NOW you mention MP and people bring out the Witch burning laws... ahhh what a bunch of hypocrites...

Dee_914803d ago

yea i was looking forward to multiplayer
but this sound just as fun .. almost

Ascalon944803d ago

that would be pretty sick but I think we will survive man

jack_burt0n4804d ago

something mass effect 2 needed imo, just release a level editor.

timesplitters did it, bout time its making a comback on consoles.

Steffl3r4803d ago

Nah Mass Effect 2 was fine without. Maybe as a Mass Effect 3 add on but in Mass Effect 2 it wouldnt have made sense in context. In Mass Effect 3 they could do without any major consequences. But IF they did it I would like to see something on the lines of a full on map editor as well instead of seeing rehashed areas. Otherwise it would be Mass Effect 1 all over again lol. But a map/mission editor something on the lines of Far Cry would be amazing.

badz1494804d ago

I'm already content with the SP offering alone like the 1st but any extra is greatly appreciated! lots and lots of missions and genius minds out there will sure come out with good missions like how great minds are leading the way in LBP! can't wait!

Balt 4804d ago

It sounds good in theory but if you can't share them or import others into your game what is the point? I dont want multiplayer in the game, and this sounds hot, but if we just make a mission then we already know how to tackle it. it'd be pointless.

jwk944804d ago

I think people's missions can be imported into your game, the way the article explains it, it makes it seem as if it will just appear in your game some how.

NAGNEWS4803d ago

yes you can share your lvls, if you look closer at 1:45 (the video) you can see that the lvl is made or CREATED BY: irok_56, and that means you can pick it and play it

LethalChickens4804d ago

I'm sure you will be able to share it. it's Little Big inFAMOUS

VenomProject4804d ago

For once, I agree.

What's the point of creating a fleshed out mission if you already know the vantage points, weak spots, enemy spawns, etc.?

4804d ago
silvacrest4804d ago

i can't believe you actually asked that question

did you say the same thing with LBP2?

Focker4204803d ago (Edited 4803d ago )

I seriously don't understand how people aren't getting this...

YOU CAN PLAY OTHER PEOPLE'S LEVELS!!!!!!!!!!

labaronx4804d ago (Edited 4804d ago )

the game looks great, graphics made a big jump, and the story has me intrigued....

a mission creator sounds awesome but like you said would be sorta pointless if we cant share them

BUBBLE

Trevonn4804d ago

because we would realy just create levels /s for areselfs of course we will be able to share them

starchild4804d ago

There has got to be some way to share them.

dead_eye4804d ago

“Infamous 2 will have user-generated levels, Sucker Punch says at GDC. Apparently the user generated missions will be integrated into the single player story mode somehow. If your mission is played by a lot of people and highly rated, Sucker Punch will drop it into the single player game. Interesting stuff.”

that was from the first article so looks like you can play the missions.

still think co-op will come.

Gamehead364804d ago

Under the video in the article:

"Once the creation is whipped up and uploaded, it's shared with the world."

Am I missing something here?

Trevonn4804d ago

typical people that dont read the article i guess

Christopher4804d ago (Edited 4804d ago )

Edit: Beat to the punch by Gamehead36 while I went to get nachos :p

Yeah, this is content that can be uploaded and shared around the world. And, like LBP, you'll be able to vote on the content as well and higher voted content will be more prominent when you go to download new content.

NAGNEWS4803d ago (Edited 4803d ago )

THAT IS AWESOME !!

VenomProject4803d ago

@silvacrest

Yes, I did actually. How do you put the disc into the PS3? I'm still stumped on that one.

Sucker Punch Never Cease to Impress Me...

belal4804d ago

damn this is awesome, but imagine this with multiplayer!

DragonKnight4804d ago

Yeah, 8 people who all look identical (as Cole) running around the map shooting the same powers at each other sounds really unique and enjoyable. /s

belal4803d ago

you my friend have no imagination, who said that all has to be the same? have you played assasins creed? you can with eas create different characters with different powers only in mp, use your brain :)

DragonKnight4803d ago

And what would be the point? With Assassin's Creed, they have a good premise for online. What exactly would be the premise behind I2's? Unless you want to conveniently come up with "oh, well we didn't say this before but, Cole wasn't the only one who got powers, so surprise here's online".

Use your head. Not every game needs, or can work, online.

RyuCloudStrife4803d ago (Edited 4803d ago )

why would they NEED to shoot at each other ? Why would they be identical? Why would there be 8? Why saying you want MP for this game NOW(after the reveal) is such a blasphemy? MP would have been better(period)

DragonKnight4803d ago

@Bill Nye: Prove it. How would MP make a game designed around SP better? Submit a premise for the Infamous universe that would be a feasible option for online.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is able to use the Animus as a training platform for Abstergo agents, hence why online works. Without introducing some method of explaining why people other than Cole have powers, where they previously did not, how would online have a suitable premise to build on? Since you are "the science guy" I look forward to a cogent response.

Focker4204803d ago

The only way a multiplayer would really work is if it was like an open world free roam similar to red dead redemption.

DragonKnight4803d ago

@Focker: How though. How would gameplay fit in with the universe?

inFamous 3: We Want A Second Son Sequel

Fans of the action-adventure franchise have been eagerly awaiting news of a potential sequel to one of the best games on the PS4.

Alexious338d ago

I want it too. Make it co-op as well.

-Foxtrot337d ago

Yeah they had a lightning bolt in the shape of a question mark at the end of Infamous 2

They always went off the good ending for Cole so I think for Delsin it should be the bad ending

What he did in the bad ending, absorbing everyone’s powers, seemed like he was going to turn into something powerful.

Makes you feel like he could have been the real Beast and John was just an anomaly because of them messing with time

Sets up a Cole vs Delsin showdown

potatoseal337d ago

How would fans feel about a reboot? You know to bring a new audience in? Not a good idea? Good idea?

anast336d ago

Not a god idea. They let it sit for too long and the game hasn't been strong enough to carry itself all these years. There is so much other stuff out there right now.

masterfox337d ago

Second Son was released in 2014 was an amazing game visually and gameplay wise, sometimes I play it again on the PS5 and seeing it run at 60 fps is something to behold(yes an almost 10 year old game), if you haven't done that on your PS5 try it you won't be disappointed, pure eye candy, a PS5 exclusive of Infamous would be amazing no doubt.

gold_drake337d ago

meh, i want Cole to come back.

or maybe a reboot. with cole.

Older PlayStation games that we'd love to see on the PlayStation 5

From Xfire: "For a company with a three-decade-long history in gaming, Sony has done a crappy job at preserving its legacy. "

Flawlessmic728d ago (Edited 728d ago )

All the mgs games, all the ape escapes, silent hill 1-4, croc 1 and 2, legend of dragoon, tekken 3,tenshu, bushido blade, vagrant story, okami, ico, crash bash, gt4.

Thats just off the top of my head that i would play immediately, still so many more though that id love.

Welshy727d ago

MGS, Silent Hill etc are no brainers, but you earned my thumbs up for our boi Croc. I talk about him all the time, it's an honour to find another man of culture.

Flawlessmic727d ago (Edited 727d ago )

Hahaha yea was one of my very first games i owned on ps1 as a child, great memories!!

Love to hear there other people out there that enjoyed the gem of a game that is croc 👌

RedDevils727d ago (Edited 727d ago )

Okami has HD version already. I want those Sly games though since PS3 and vita had it.

Flawlessmic727d ago

Yea sly would be cool, i never got into those so would be a good opportunity for me to do so.

But yea theres so many games in sony catalogue we coukd be here all day listing titles.

Hopefully we all get the ganes we are hoping for.

outsider1624728d ago

Tenchu 1 and 2

Latest RPCS3 build brings major improvements in Metal Gear Solid 4, inFamous 2, Ninja Gaiden & more

If the PC can emulate the PS3, then for sure the PS5 would be able to do same. but dose Sony want it?

Mr Logic1390d ago

If there was money in it, then Sony would do it. People can bitch and moan all they want, but even if every person on this site used BC, that would still be a tiny fraction of gamers. Almost nobody really uses BC.

DethWish1390d ago (Edited 1390d ago )

I think there would be money if they made PS3 games downloadable through PSNow and added a bunch more.
Edit: I would get it if MGS4 was available

Mr Logic1390d ago

@DethWish

That would be an emulator. You're not making any sense.

DethWish1390d ago

Mr Logic, really? If PS5 could emulate PS3 games (BC) and PSNow would let you download and play PS3 games locally instead of streaming (like it lets you download PS4 games), wouldn't that be awesome? PSNow has some really interesting PS3 games, but I'd prefer to play them locally

MadLad1390d ago

Really?
Remasters of popular games do extremely well. MS basically hands them out for free. If people didn't want to play older games, then why do remasters sell so well?

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 1390d ago
anonymousfan1390d ago

I honestly would probably never ever use it... But I still think it would be pretty neat. Its one of the few avantages PC still has on console that is complete backwards compatibility. But for all the work needed to implement this I doubt it would be worth Sony's time.

Melankolis1390d ago

In my opinion.
The difference is independent emulator developer can build any emulator as an experiment that will be perfected for years, maybe more than 10 years. During that time, expect many glitch, bugs, and updates. They can do that because they do not have any obligation towards PC users or whatsoever.

Fos Sony, once they announce PS5 will be able to play PS3 games, they have to make it safe and playable for users. They do not want the emulator cause bricks, glitch, heating up or anything to the consoles and get sued for that.

Harkins17211390d ago

The amount of work it would require sony for each game probably isn't worth it. Maybe after rpcs3 is done they can patent it and use it. That's the dream lol

Any ps3 owner has too own this masterpiece . My disk drive has just gone on my old super slim . So I bought the digital version no questions ask . If you have a ps3 own this masterpiece that’s all I can say . I replay it every year and still find loads of enjoyment . The last true metal gear in my opinion . V was good and gameplay amazing , but it’s just not a metal gear quality story wise .
