MacWorld: Even as part of a simulated computer experience, being mayor of a fledgling city is no easy job. Thankfully, TeamLava’s City Story makes mayoral duties at least fun and engaging by combining simple gameplay with a number of interesting social features to create a highly-addictive game.
TheAppera: SimCity is one of the few games I really dedicated time to while I was growing up. City Story takes on that concept and transforms it into a social networking game. The goal is to build a sprucing city with the help of your friends of course.
As a free iPhone game, City Story should easily satisfy the needs of gamers looking for a Social City style experience on the go – especially in light of what a disappointing showing the actual Social City had on the device. We would have liked to have seen more buildings and cross-device syncing, but these things may come in time. Even without such additions, City Story provides a perfectly competent Social City clone for the iDevice faithful.
