Top Five Most Intense Moments of 2010... So Far

2010 has been a fantastic year for gamers. It's not often we are able to compile a solid list of 'Game of the Year' contenders only half way through the calender year. Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption, and more are all high quality experiences that would normally be reserved for the holiday season.

With that in mind, we decided to examine some of the most intense moments so far this year. Intense could be anything from terrifying to awe inspiring, anything that really got our blood pumping. It should go without saying that if you haven't played these games yet and want to avoid spoilers, stop reading after each headline. The following is the top five most intense moments of 2010... so far.

I really need to play some of these games when I get the cash.

N4GAddict5021d ago

I need to get Alan Wake someday. Heard nothing but good things about it.

Imperator5021d ago

I'd recommend Alan wake as either a rental or a $40 game. Good game.

5. Was a surprising mission where you felt real fear but there is a more intense moment at the end.

4. Kinda but I made all the right decisions. Ran through without a hitch. Which is cool but I felt a little cheated.

3. Need

2. More

1. Money

Coramoor_5021d ago

Definitely agree with 5 and 1, never played the others but those two are definitely worth it

Cheeseknight285021d ago

5, 4, and 3 are spot on. Haven't played 2. I think 1 needs to be the Mad Jack fight or the garbage compactor fight.

The Nathaniel scene was interesting but I seriously did not think he was any threat. It was too early in the game.

Triella5021d ago

For Heavy Rain I'd rather say trying to get out from the appartement on fire, or, if you made too much noise while inspecting the doctor's house the following scene is pretty intense and frightening.

kneon5021d ago

You could probably fill a top ten list just with scenes from Heavy Rain.

Sanrin5021d ago

I will agree. Lets hope that the rest of 2010 brings us some more intense moments to add to the list.

JDouglasGU5021d ago

shockingly i think we may have seen the best this year has to offer, hard to beat some of the stuff already out in 2010.

Coramoor_5021d ago

I have to disagree with that, Starting with SC2, we're going to be rolling through quite a few solid games this year, although the impact will truly be determined only when we know what games get pushed to Q1 2011

AndrewRyan5021d ago

I disagree aswell. World of Warcraft players are getting a long awaited expansion, and it seems like this one will be the best yet, SC2 came out for the SC1 fans and RTS fans in general. Grand Turismo 5 is coming back to life and will be a huge blockbuster. Little Big Planet 2 will bring smiles to our faces. Halo Reach is coming to kick some multiplayer ass and will bring nothing but teabagging joy.

Sir, I am afraid the best is yet to come.

Cheeseknight285021d ago

I don't think the best is yet to come, but I do think there are some exciting titles still left. Starcraft II is going to keep me entertained until Other M and/or New Vegas, then LittleBigPlanet 2 and Cataclysm (maybe) will finish off the year.

But since Starcraft II is now out, the best part of the year I think has concluded. It's hard to stand up against Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Bayonetta, Red Dead, 3D Dot, Bioshock 2, and Super Mario Galaxy 2... and I don't think that's even all the games I've bought this year!

N4GAddict5021d ago

Heavy Rain was the most intense for me

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran810d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto9d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia10d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie10d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos10d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie10d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh9d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan20d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
