Video Games are the Future of Horror

Koku writes: "For as long as I can remember, I have been a dedicated fan of the horror genre across all artforms. As a child I delighted in word-of-mouth ghost stories, during my teenage years the X-Files was essential viewing and a Stephen King novel was rarely out of my hands, and throughout my life the world of film has offered up all kinds of terrifying possibilities – from gory, self-parodying slasher movies like Scream, to unbearably creepy, psychological masterpieces such as Hideo Nakata’s Ring."

Nobody mess with the true Psychological Survival Horror Game.

Yes, Alan Wake was well written and gave the Xbox 360 an amazing singleplayer experience that it lacks so much because it focuses on MP so much.

unfortunately the very mechanics of being a video game will keep horror games from being truly scary. it'll kinda lose its impact the first time you get killed and have to restart at a checkpoint.

Speak for your self, Dead Space did a great job at creeping me out the whole time, and so did Alan Wake, its about execution when it comes to Horror games, and pacing as well.

While probably not considered a horror game by anyone, I still like the sense of isolation from Metroid Prime.

I was actually talking to my brother about this a couple weeks ago. The reason I can't get scared by horror movies is cuz I'm not involved in them the way I am games. Sure, movies can creep me out or gross me out (see the Saw series and The Hills Have Eyes) but I haven't been scared since I was a kid. Games on the other hand put you into the shoes of the protagonist as he meanders around, makes you fight the baddies, or run like hell from them, and it's your good judgment (or lack thereof) that makes the game as heart-poundingly balls-to-the-wall scary as it can be. The Silent Hill series always puts me on the edge of my seat, and the old Resident Evil games made me wonder if I was gonna have a heart attack. I could feel my heart in my throat playing them.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
