Ubisoft's PC DRM Hacked, AC 2 Cracked

As most of you probably know, Ubisoft's new PC DRM, currently included in the company's recent releases such as Silent Hunter V and Assassin's Creed II, requires players to have a constant Internet connection so the game can be experienced. The protection system caused a lot of problems for a majority of legit users. The PC edition of Assassin's Creed II hit the market last month and there were various hack attempts, one of which involved a scheme that allowed users to emulate Ubisoft's DRM servers on their computers.

just recently, the file is only a matter of kb's

So much for Ubi's amazing protection :D

Darkfocus5118d ago

that way ubisoft would have nothing to blame for AC2's poor sales other than the DRM. this way they'll just use piracy as an excuse even though it didn't affect sales.

FantasyStar5118d ago

Ubisoft can make whatever excuse but the world has already judged their actions, even before this crack came out.

"We just make their lifes easier"

LOL. Putting my Grammar Nazi-ing aside, I must say, they have done a great service for legitimate consumers.

Ha

f@cking

ha

Now do yourselves a favor. Ditch the DRM. Pray you get some legit sales. Never make this mistake again.

Only a matter of time.

Ironically, this crack benefits the legit owners the most. They can finally play AC2 without having to stay constantly online.

SaiyanFury5118d ago (Edited 5118d ago )

True. I *was* going to buy it, but I may look into SKIDROW's end-product cause I'm not gonna putdraconian, fascist DRM on my PC. Screw that.

mensaap5118d ago

no suprise here, tested the drm last night, pulled out my wireless
bam desktop, no warning, nothing

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5118d ago (Edited 5118d ago )

Well, I want also a Cracked Version for Splinter Cell, I don't know if Skidrow will took the same time or less time to Crack that game, but let's wait, the game is released few days more for PC.

"Thank you Ubisoft, this was quiete a challenge for us, but nothing stops the leading force from doing what we do. Next time focus on the game and not on the DRM. It was probably horrible for all legit users. We just make their lifes easier."

Wondering the faces from Ubisoft reading that.

I think it will be cracked faster than AC2. I guess the PC version must be gold by now so even if Ubisoft find a way to re-protect their game against SKIDROW's crack, they won't be able to put that protection on the disc. Sure, they can patch it after the launch but the team must be able to crack it while offline.

Anyway, Ubisoft DRM has now completely lost its meaning besides annoying their legit customers.

I own a lot of PC games, what do i do when it fails to install or not work, spend the night dling the pirated game and installing that and it works every time. This is why I have stopped buying PC games, if I'm gonna spend an hour each time updating drivers and sh!t just to end up dling the pirated version just to play, whats the f...ing point. Your wasting my time, so yeah, devs stop with DRM, your hurting the legit buyers and causing us aggravation. Logically any error received, everyone is gonna do a Google search, which takes us/user to a forum, which leads to torrent cracks or fixes, some games have said to dl the pirated version. DRM errors points most users to cracks/pirated version, its not helping at all.

this has been cracked with emulated servers for ages now
