Calls For Sony To Be Sued After PS3 Crash

Sky News writes: In a statement, the games manufacturer admitted the fault had been caused by "a bug in the clock functionality".

The internal clock on the console was programmed to recognise 2010 as a leap year, when it's not.

Gamers who booted-up their consoles on March 1, 2010, recieved the following message: "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)" - or the date of their PS3 systems were re-set to January 1, 2000.

This entire call for Sony to be sued was doubtless started by opposition that are getting desperate as the capability gap between the PS3 and 360 begins to widen like a chasm. Now that it has been revealed that Natal is little more than casual Wii fair with additional lag, it is patently obvious PS3 detractors will seize upon any small blade of grass to prevent their inevitable and destined trip over the ledge.

2. Sony was quick to respond.

As I have said and been ragged on before. I filed a complaint with the BBB over the fact that Sony made a mistake. I had paid for my DLC and I was unable to play it because they made a mistake with their programing thus rendering my money unusable. But I stated in my report why am unable to play my programs when my machine has been activated on their servers thus once again making their system favor them.

I never asked for anything free but I did state if they do not patch the error and allow DLC to be used offline without an internet connection I would request a full refund.

It was a DAY! ONE single day! And not even an entire 24 hour period for most people. Now all is well. Your PS3 is still completely functional, no yellow light, no hardware failure. You have your online back. Your trophies weren't ever(because they exist on a secured mainframe server you n00b) lost. Your precious MAG\Killzone\Uncharted\Modern Warfare clan didn't miss any matches because - guess what! NOBODY ELSE COULD PLAY EITHER. The ONLY thing valid about this argument is the rental movies not being able to play. Sony should refund those effected or at least issue a voucher for a free rental. Some people (read: sniveling babies) should go sit on one thumb and plop the other in their toothless, drooling, baby mouths and think about how there are real problems in the world, like malaria, and typhoid fever, and spilled milk.

Well, if it caused peoples PS3s to break and not work again then of course Sony should be sued! If not and everything is back to normal then no. Keep in mind people that these consoles are expensive and it is irresponsible and uncalled for that big companies like these continue to put out loads of faulty machines. pop in the game you are missing trophies for, put it on, then quit it, then synchronize your trophies again, all your lost trophies for that game should be back after that.

It seem to be the old 20GB, 60GB and 80GB models that were effected by this, my PS3 is the 80GB (But 2 USB ports) Sunday I couldn't get own during the after noon, after that I could get on an I played some MAG an Boarderlands with my friend online.

Monday I played Star Ocean (Has to install trophy's) an I did play alittle bit of Heavy Rain when my gf was over, but had no problems being online or lost any trophy's.

My God, it was only down for one day! Was it really that big of a deal? I knew, just like all of my other fellow PS3 owners, that Sony would fix it. And guess what? THEY DID! lawsuit is stupid yes, but i can see why people got so worked up over it (especially those who offline and dont read up on game news much)- one suddenly, millions of ps3's all breakdown at the same time? What morons. I'm on the other hand happy as fuk with Sony. My ps3 has been broke for a while and I decided to finally get it fixed and I'm gettin a new one today. Took them one week and I received uncharted 2 and battlefield 2 for free. Payed 120 for a new system from them and received 120$ worth of games for free, that's really nice of them they didn't have to do that.
