Here are some of Sony's greatest quotes. Most of them are about their gaming division and the competition, but there a couple other gems in there, too.
"Nintendo knows its target audience, because it has really narrowed that down; and it’s pretty much defined by a boy or girl’s ability to admire Pokemon." - Phil Harrison Not surprising how much Sony has turned the volume down on them. Now, you only see Phil and Jack talking. Where'd Kaz go?
Kaz Hirai is the Chief Executive officer, he has more important things to do than give interviews.
"giant enemy crab".
"The first five million are going to buy it (PS3), whatever it is, even [if] it didn't have games." - David Reeves, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO
It looks like they intend to put that quote to the test...
he was kinda right.
"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1200 bucks for it." Sony.
In that case, they need to check the back room at my store...they would owe me enough to buy a house. A NICE house. Sorry, but it's just not selling well at my store.
Direct quote from a sales person in Currys (a large electrical retailer) in Tamworth. "Wii is selling out as soon as it comes in, 360 is still selling well but we have only sold 2 PS3s since launch. We have 43 in the back."
Ah those DS are a gimick comments still get me to this day haha
DS is still a gimmick, it just that DS Lite is the real deal.
touche (I think that's how you spell it at least)
Where is the discipline comment made by Ken? I thought that was pretty funny...
"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1200 bucks for it." - Jack Tretton, Sony Computer Entertainment America president and CEO
when ps3 were sold out, while that magazine with that quote was released only in the end of january. UTFG. =)) More then 50% of DS user are under 15. Sony already sold around 4 mln. ps3 (according to famitsu) without AAA titles(only with few really good games).
Bull Crazy man, the PS3 never got sold out. It has been laying in shops since the launch. And the PS3 hasn't sold close to 4 million, but rather close to just over 3 million by now. Not even 3.5 million yet. After launch, even the great European one, salesnumbers have fallen. North America, 3rd month in a row under 100k. The 360 sells an average of 200k to 300k every months since its launch more then 1,5 year ago. In Europe, the 360 sells 29k every week, the PS3 only 18k. You're way, way off. True, there aren't so much great games for the PS3. But still it has games. The hype died after the fanboys bought the PS3. Simple as that. You remember the Giant enemy crab comment?
1) yeah, sure, never was sold out, LOL. 2) 3,8 mln. according to famitsu, use a google. 3) March 2007 vs. April 2007 vs. May 2007 PlayStation 3: 130,000 vs. 82,000 vs. 81,600 Xbox 360: 199,000 vs. 174,000 vs. 155,000 - just going down? lol. (Source: 1up.com) 4) in europe x360 already cost 350 euro, ps3 still 600. http://www.amazon.de/Konsol... 5) ps3 having stable sales, 80k in usa, 40k in japan and 80k others. And that without real AAA games like MGS4, FFXIII, GT5, KZ2. while x360, 155k in usa, 10k in japan and 100k others. 200k for 600$/￥67,780/600euro vs 265k for 400$/￥38,200/350euro.
Ken Kutaragi came out with some great ones. I love this one... "…for consumers to think to themselves ‘I will work more hours to buy one’. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else." – Ken Kutaragi, explaining their marketing goals for the PS3 But how could they forget Kaz Harai's "RIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!!!"
-- "A new world will be created on the basis of PlayStation2 in the coming years. The client right now is the PC... but the PlayStation2 will be a completely different (computing) environment." -- K.K. Ken Kutaragi. Seems like a fellow I could sit down with, & have a few ales and a few laughs. We'll miss the wild, good times. =]
Listen nothing is better than Peter Moore! "but but its all about the service" yeah them servicing you're broken down 360's for allot of money on an already defective product!
"We do not care." – Kaz Hirai, current President of Computer Entertainment, regarding competition from Microsoft and Nintendo
Feel free to take a look... http://www.n4g.com/NewsPend...
Hilarious, Sony bullsh!t ftw! ...and indeed "we do not care" is the most visible of their statements.
After the "EMOTION ENGINE" and "CG Quality Graphics" comments, you would think that SONY PR people would step in and forbid some of the SONY big wigs from answering questions on the spot. I think a good practice for Phil and friends would be "No comment", and let the people who aren't completely self absorbed in their product do the talking. It takes a lot of nerve to talk about a competitors product and predict how it will perform. That just speaks of pure arrogance to: 1- Believe that you know how the world's consumers will receive each new product 2- Blindly make technical statements about a competitors product when you have no personal experience with it 3- Assume that because you sold your last console well, you are guaranteed to unload your new product on the world based on brand recognition alone.
which burns into a lot of peoples minds, even if it is madness mixed w/ bravado: -- "Microsoft has put itself out of the game, ... Retailers in the US are already disappointed." -- K.K. -- "[Microsoft]: We Don't Have a High Defect Rate on 360" --Todd Holmdahl, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Gaming and Xbox Products Group, Gaming needs guys like these. These kinds of statements are market movers and keeps the dreams and hopes of the gamers that support them, alive. If nothing else -- it's just plain good comedy. cheers
"Consider the US with its massive land and cheap people. Then you look at the UK - a little island where rent and rates are at an absolute premium, and the cost of people is a lot more." HEY WTF SONY!?!? Your calling me cheap? I spent $600 on your console when it came out! You fuc*ers...That's my RENT!
"We here at Sony have decided to make our newest addition to the Playstation family expensive as hell for the common consumer." Just kidding.
lol good one...the thing is the Playstation is expensive but as they say that if you really want it shouldn't be so bad to try and save up the cash. It's just that say it in the most idiotic ways...Sony try this..."We understand the price point seems excessive but we hope our loyal fanbase will understand the upside for the system and the content we will provide will be the best" See it's coc*y but it makes me say "Hey it is expensive but they care about me having the best games and that right their makes it ok to spend the money"
"A bit pricey." - Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, speaking about Nintendo Wii in an interview with the age.com.au That's my pick, but deep down, "It's ridge racer.......rrriiiiiiidddgggge eeee raaacerrrr" will always have a place in my heart.
"You will bow down to the greatness and power of the Playstation 3." -TheMART "You will give your first born as a sacrifice for the Playstation 3." --Power Of Green "You will defend the Playstation 3 with honor." -- TopGamer "Prepare for glory of the Playstation 3." -- Thammer1 "I like little boys" -- toughName
post on the 'xbox quotes' article you lil [email protected]
what do you worship the PS3 or something because you would sacrafice someones life for a suckyy console. PS : GET A LIFE
Lets not forget about Sony saying the * PS3 is 3X more powerful... * The Xbox 360 is a Xbox 1.5... * We're shooting for the Sun while MS is shooting for the Moon(is it practical to go to the Sun?) * PS3 launch tittles will be untouchable and the 360 will never be able to match the PS3 launch titles its entire life cycle. * Online gaming isn't what gamers want * Different SKu's will just confuse consumers * All games will do 1080p at 120 fps * PSN will match XBL from day one * Rumble is last generation on and on Sony wins hands down
...is the one where Sony thought the SIXAXIS received an award for best controller or something of that nature and it was really the dual shock. I think the representive guy said "this proves the SIXAXIS is a superior controller"...too funny
"Most people, I think, don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?" - Thomas Hesse, Sony BMG's president of global digital business, responding to the outcry over Sony's DRM Rootkit spyware uncovered on its music CDs ***Most people don't understand how Ebola destroys the body, but that doesn't mean they WANT it.*** "It’s probably too cheap…" – Ken Kutaragi, Regarding the $499 to $599 price point ***Partially true, when one considers the internal components. But the average person doesn't see $800-900 worth of components...they see $600.*** "(the PS3) is not a game machine…" - Ken Kutaragi, Regarding the machine’s beefy hardware architecture ***Um, then what is it? Oh wait, here's the answer: "The PlayStation 3 is a computer. We do not need the PC." - Phil Harrison, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, in an interview with GameSpot "The first five million are going to buy it (PS3), whatever it is, even [if] it didn't have games." - David Reeves, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO ***Prophetic, in an ironic way.*** "Nintendo knows its target audience, because it has really narrowed that down; and it’s pretty much defined by a boy or girl’s ability to admire Pokemon." - Phil Harrison, president of Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studios ***Guess what? They've taken YOUR target audience.*** For the record, fanboys, I'm going to do the same thing with the MS quotes.
"Price/Cut World~Wide Forgive our Greedy Ignorant Ways!"
"The first five million are going to buy it (PS3), whatever it is, even [if] it didn't have games." - David Reeves, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Surely they'll be at least one decent game out when the PS3 finally hits the 5 million mark?
