Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Review by JPS

JPS Writes: "Overall, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a very well done action RPG and a fun continuation from the original. Everything that you love about the first game has been improved and some new elements have added depth to the gameplay. This is a must buy for anyone who's a Marvel fan or a fan of the original game."

this game did not get deduct for the lack of it.

i rememeber innovation was a buzz word around february but now it does not even matter

Baka-akaB5338d ago (Edited 5338d ago )

For starters the first one sucked massively , for the very next sequel to be good is a rare "innovation" enough .

And it actually features two things innovative enough , though possibly shallow and superficials :

-In what it primarily a beat them all , you actually choose path that are more akin to rpgs kind of decision and choices .

The game is scenarised enough , unlike MUA and XML1 and 2 where you'd mostly randomly pair up whoever you want with whoever you can .

- You can combine heroes attacks ...

That's a short list but seems decent enough given the nature and genre of the title . hell i dont remember anyone slamming the excellent Batman Arkham Asylum for it's lack of innovation .

i loved the 1st. cant wait till the weekend i know it comes out tom. but i will spend some serious time with that game online with friends..

JoySticksFTW5337d ago

I'm glad that it turned out ok.

Considering that the X-Men Legends games and the first Ultimate Alliance were a lot of fun, I'll be picking this up.

Yi-Long5338d ago

... but certainly not the first few months.

I'll wait for either a GOTY-edition which will have the upcoming DLC included, or until it hits the bargain-bin.

As always, I'm not paying full-price for a game that's already announcing it will be DLC-milking in the near future.

JoySticksFTW5337d ago

I'll probably pick this up soon after I beat Batman, but I have to admit that I don't like the direction this game is going in terms of DLC.

The first game had a lot of unlockable characters & costumes -- by performing in-game tasks and/or earning xp -- not by charging $1.99 per character like this game wants to with Juggernaut

No extra characters for me I guess... I'm not paying for them

Ares84PS35338d ago

...when I entered that water level. That was over the top ridiculous for me. How stupid can anything get really?? Like a cartoon from the 60's.

air15338d ago

lmfao..

yea that water level was ridiculous. the over all game was great though but thats just me i even liked the psp version of it..

Top 10 Xbox 360 Games That Need to be Backward Compatible

Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."

Max Payne 3 needs to be on that list.

The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago

Vits1032d ago

Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.

MetalProxy1032d ago

Wait everything isn’t BC? You guys act like it is lol

porkChop1032d ago

Almost all of the games people want to play are BC, and that's a hell of a lot better than having none available.

ApocalypseShadow1032d ago (Edited 1032d ago )

Almost all the games people want to play? Not true. Majority picks screw over the minority who have games collecting dust. Metal is right. Fans make it seem that it's all. 39/997 games from OG Xbox is NOT all. 568/2154 from 360 is NOT all. But you guys play it up like it is.

And from my count, there are 4,000+ PS4 BC games on PS5 that I see. And almost every VR game. Series X has no Kinect games or Kinect 2. But you played that up too. No more dancing.

As for the article, some of the BC games make sense. The others with Spider-Man aren't happening.

Knightofelemia1203d ago

They should have added Alliance 1 with 2 and Xmen Legends still great games that I own and play.

neutralgamer19921202d ago

Physical media especially for these licensed games

autobotdan1202d ago

Unfortunately this game was never on a physical disc for ps4 or xbox one.

neutralgamer19921202d ago

Oh yeah I have these on ps3. Activision probably missed their chance but they just wanted the quick buck

Profchaos1202d ago

Anything with a license at all any open world game with real world music on the radio, sports titles, racing games, rythem games the list goes on.
It's only stuff like tlou or horizon where it's all end to end Sony IP that I have no concerns about buying digital

addictedtochaos1202d ago

Only for Europe at this time. 🙁 They were initially delisted the day before I went to buy them.

autobotdan1202d ago

Grab it while you can asap. Fun game and it should already be backwards compatible on ps5. I already have the digital 2 pack of both original Marvel ultimate alliance games on xbox one. I purchased them on sale just before they got delisted

Can Marvel Crossovers Ever Escape the Infinity Saga?

This month, nearly a decade to the month after the release of its predecessor, Nintendo released Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, a return to the beloved ARPG Marvel gaming series that takes comic book crossover mania to a team-based beat ‘em up conclusion. But it also serves as a reminder that...god, things were so different back when Ultimate Alliance 2 was coming out, weren’t they?

Yeah. Just wait until the next big storyline is revealed in the MCU. Then all the crossovers will be about that.

But the Infinity Gauntlet is one of Marvel's most famous and popular stories. Even the fighting game Marvel Super Heroes was about it back in the 90's, long before the MCU was even an idea.

I agree it's time to move on. But with the MCU becoming far more popular and reaching way more people than the comics ever did, sadly we are living in a world where the movies will dictate most other forms of media, not the comics. At least, that is, until the MCU eventually runs out of gas. Which it eventually will just like all movie trends. But it could take quite a while for that to happen.

AK911729d ago

It depends on who the next big bad will be in the MCU universe.
