Gaming Age writes: "As well, the game feels somewhat repetitive. While Hit the Road had the same sort of feel sometimes, it was part of the satire. With Save the World, episodes are typically divided between the claustrophobic, and overly familiar by the end, neighborhood and the equally claustrophobic area of inspection. The unnaturally close camera angles and repeated ability of character models to get in the way of tight shots (prepare to see a lot of Sam's back during dialogue) make for an uncomfortable game to play with".
Skunkape Games has released a collector's edition of the Sam & Max Save the World vinyl soundtrack. There's also a digital album on Bandcamp.
"Two classic Sam & Max games coming to PlayStation on September 29! Sam is a six-foot canine detective with a love of justice. Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with a taste for mayhem. Together, they’re the Freelance Police—an irreverent comedy duo whose esoteric crime-fighting style has been entertaining comic book and video game fans for more than thirty years.
In Sam & Max Save the World (aka Season One), a mind-control scheme involving washed-up child stars spirals to encompass the media, the mafia, the United States government, and the internet, building up to an out-of-this-world finale. In Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space (aka Season Two), Sam & Max are back on the crime beat in a showdown with Santa Claus, a race to subdue a giant volcano, and a face-off with a Eurotrash vampire... and then things get really weird.
