No just no.
Doom 3 was and still is the best in the series to date.

Doom 3 was pretty much nothing like the original games, thus calling it the best in the series is silly and entirely subjective. Even then, being there's a huge variance between old-school and new Doom, I think the majority would then have to give that title to Doom 2016, which was much less divisive, just as well, or even better received, than Doom 3, and shared a lot more in common with the series than 3 did.
AAAND, even then, there's a rather large camp that actually consider Doom 64 the best in the series; to the point they're are even re-releasing it, officially, for PC, 2 decades after the fact.

Just my two cents.

@therealtedcruz
I can see your point. I did and still do like the old versions of doom but I feel they needed to move on from the run and gun to keep it relevant and I thought doom 3 was a step in the right direction.
I personally don't like the new doom 2016 but I understand it's not just about my opinions, to me it just felt hollow and a chore to get through but as I said that's just my opinion.
Doom 3 had a good story, suspense and alot of jump scares and had me panic button bashing.
Each to their own I guess.

I actually really enjoyed Doom 3; just not as a Doom game, if you get me. Up to that point, the series was just run and gun. That was Doom. Doom 3 was just … Doom 3. That's the thing about the Doom franchise; at this point, we essentially have three variations - the original Doom games and the spin-offs, Doom 3, and now the reboot of Doom which is sort of an amalgamation of different design ideas had throughout its lifecycle.
I wasn't trying to make it out that you were wrong. I just seem to always take issue with wording that lends subjective takes to objective fact. Doom has been all over the place since not long after its inception and, outside of some questionable console ports, I honestly find the entire series fantastic. But there's a lot of "it's great because of this" going on. At this point, there's no definitive definition of what Doom is. There's just a lot of great, and vastly different, experiences to be had under the name.

Doom 3 was superior to all the other Doom games imo
