The Game Awards Finally Fulfils Its Potential

For a few years now, we’ve argued The Game Awards is just about as good as it can be – after all, there’s a ceiling to how engaging an industry awards ceremony, organised by an independent third-party, can possibly be. It’s clearly an expensive production that needs funding, and so the advertisements aren’t going away. Moreover, even though host Geoff Keighley clearly has incredible industry pull, there’s not a lot he can do if platform holders and publishers don’t come out to play.

I was going to ask why Pacino was presenting when it dawned on me that it was for the Acting award. Kinda smart to do it that way. Even if he looked a little lost.

Geoff finally did a pretty amazing job. I liked this year's presentation. The back to back games including some top hitters. I also agreed with many of the awards.
And then there's the memable stuff lol. Judge's long speech, the flute guy, and...Bill Clinton. Made my night. Hope Geoff keeps it more this way rather than having way too much fluff that many gamers don't care for.

I remember that one year, that low budget one with Joel I think was his name inside a smaller room. So cringe on that one, this one felt much better then all the years. Lol on the people saying they havent watched since 08 like they to 😎 or something for it. Oh yeah i also liked that who is the murder part Reggie lol look.

I still find it embarrassing to watch. I just do.

Look, they’re still cringe and somewhat boring in a lot of parts, but you can tell Geoff is trying and I’ll admit I do have fun watching them.

I think this show really brought some great announcements like Jedi: Survivor, Death Stranding 2, and the FF16 release date trailer. There’s some other things sprinkled in there.

Also, who could forget flute guy? The man held back the Apocalypse with the power of flute playing. MVP!

Some amazing games shown off. I could do without the awards and ceremonies lol. It’s nice for them but I’m just not interested in that. I have been waiting for the Ghost Story game for YEARS. That alone was worth the price of admission.
