It would've been better if they added a classic mode wherein you can play the game with same old assets and textures but with higher resolution plus better framerate. At least players would have a choice.

If GTA 6 turns out to be bad I’d bet that a lot of people will lose faith in Rockstar. Rockstar simply doesn’t make bad games. And if they do then there is something seriously wrong with the company internally. This port was handled by Grove Street Games and published by Rockstar. Still an embarrassment to have the Rockstar label on it though.

Well rockstar seemed to think the definitive trilogy was in a good enough shape to release. I believe it's unlikely that Grove street games on their own could decide when and how the games release.

So rockstar is to blame for A) knowing the sad state of the games and still give its ok to release or B) not caring at all what the heck grove is doing with their ip and with the product with rockstar label on it and let them release it without reviewing it first.
In both cases the "hate" is well deserved

I think they should have done what Ubisoft did with Sand of Time Remake. they knew the quality isn't there and they delayed it after the reveal left the fans unhappy. Why R* still proceed with this is beyond me. the backlash was real since the first time they showed it and the games turn out worse than people expected

Rockstar were known for the highest quality though. This is the first time they have utterly bombed, I wonder how much this will affect their reputation going forward. I know they outsourced development on the trilogy but their name is still plastered all over this.

Outside of the fairly frequesnt crashes in gta 3 which would ofcourse happen when im hunting packages and not saving, im honeslty having a blast.

Sounds like everyone is tresting this like its a remake, its a remaster, and as far as remaster goes theres been more done to it than most remasters iv ever played.

Is it perfect? No. Do the games play like there 20 yrs old? Yes they do hence remasterr not remake. So many whingers honestly.

I can tell u the smile i had on my face when i started vice city seeing the map in crisp and colourful 4k with that absolutely baging sound track minus a few songs.

Admittedly i wouldve paid the 100$ just to play vice city like this let alone all 3.

Anyways no its not perfect but its dam sight better than what i experienced on ps2 all those years ago.

The only thing that i can say i have across are fairly constant crashes in gta 3, vice city seems stable though

Problem is even as a remaster, it has a lot of flaws. NPCs look like garbage, lack of any fog whatsoever reveals the literal edge of the map, rain looks like garbage, even some main character issues like carls skin texture when at max muscle, or how his animations no longer change depending on his build which just makes it look off. Some of this can be fixed, but still begs the question, why did they ship it like this to begin with

For once, one of the headline grabbing low score reviews actually nails it. Back then we could forgive the shoddy gameplay because the story was good and it was a new and exciting time for gaming. And while these can still be called classics, they just do not hold up well or stand the test of time like a Mario game does. They should have took the Capcom route and done full on remakes, but what we got was a shoddy cash grab port. They should know better. Even Mafia got a better remake 😳🤦

TBH, Crash and Spyro are more Remakes than Remaster. almost no original assets are used in those but yeah, they have done those games justice unlike what R* has done here.

I am trying hard to trudge through San Andreas to find some redeeming qualities. I just can't though this is shameful. I am shocked they actually released this thing in it's current state! If CDPR got all that flack for Cyberpunk, Take 2 needs to be absolutely berated for this shameful cash grab. Wow, they have completely destroyed my nostalgia for these games!

Glad San Andreas was on Game Pass. I am playing it, but Rockstar could have made more of an effort. These games deserved more than a half assed update! At least the music is mostly still there.
