I'm glad they did. I play in this mode because I feel like it's a perfect blend of graphics and fluidity with the higher framerate.

Amplitude1405d ago (Edited 1405d ago )

Oh 100%.

Performance mode runs at the same frame rate but the visuals take way too much of a hit imo, and Fidelity doesn't look better enough to justify halving the frame rate. I'll admit the increased foliage does look nice tho

I have a 65" 4K Sony X950H. When I started the game I would switch a couple times between the various modes to see the difference. 4K30 + RT looked the best, especially sharpness was impressive compared to either 60fps mode. But 6- fps plays night and day difference so I went with tat.

In motion I didn't see that much of a resolution difference between Performance and Performance RT that I sticked with the last one. Towards the middle of the game quickly changed again to all to see but again conclusion was that Performance RT was the best overall experience.

SeTTriP1405d ago

I'm liking the 40fps mode.not better then performance rt but it looks great and plays better.

And I'm actually using my t.v for what its intended for.

Neonridr1404d ago

I haven't had a chance to try out the 40fps mode yet. Might give it a go. 60 just feels so darned good.

foker1405d ago

I platinumed it t 4KRT30 ,.. In 20 minutes you get used to 30,.. Ind it looks perfect,... If I had 120hz Oled Id play it at 4K40fps mode,..because faster input,.. but 30 is pretty stable anyway

slowgamer1404d ago

So if I have only 60 hz TV it doesn't work?

I've played a lot of PC games on a TV where fps goes wildly all over the place like from 40-60 with vsync on and of course is noticable when you have lower fps and I have graphs on the screen to show what fps there is but it's pretty basic PC stuff to have some drops but I still take that unstable fps rather than locking it on some 30 fps if it is mostly like 50 fps and settings pretty maxed.

So the question is that is PC games somehow different than consoles in fps thing and would a console games 50 fps feel/look worse on a TV than PC games?

How ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Did Dual Protagonists Right (And Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Didn’t)

Shaz from Pixel Swish: “Both Insomniac Games and Ubisoft have given us games with dual protagonists. However, where Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s duo feel exactly the same, Assassin’s Creed Shadow’s Yasuke and Naoe feel unique.”

They are exactly the same because it's another version of Ratchet within the multiverse. It's not Ratchet himself or a female version of him but it's someone else who's taken his place / role within that Universe.

The_Hooligan65d ago

Agreed! A better comparison take would have been between AC Syndicate and AC Shadows.

gold_drake67d ago

with ratchet, they are the same, they play the exact same.

im not even sure why this needs to be said, we all know.

isarai67d ago

They weren't trying to make them play differently, literally 2 versions of the same person. Wo ur saying they failed at something they never set out to do 🤨

Profchaos65d ago

What in the f who even thought of that concept and connect these two games that released years apart and have nothing to do with each other.

You could of said fuel protagonist vs other times where AC did duel protagonist or a game like GTA v that allows for on the fly switching

Like how desperate are they for clicks

Levii_9265d ago

Rivet's character was more useless and forced than Abby from TLOU2.

MULTIVERSESSSSSSS!!! Remember that trend people lol? Also remeber how a beloved vilain Dr Neferious was reduced to a braindead wimp and a parody of himself?

“MULTIVERSESSSSSSS!!! Remember that trend people lol?”

It’s still going on. Especially @ Marvel.

Our First Look At FSR 4? AMD's New AI Upscaling Tech Is Impressive

DigitalFoundry : Running on AMD's new Radeon 9070-series GPUs at CES 2025, a machine learning upscaling demo of Sony's Ratchet and Clank is almost certainly FSR 4 AI upscaling - and as it's running on Ratchet and Clank - our 'go to game' for AI upscaling quality tests, we could really put the tech through its paces. Oliver and Alex are at the show - and this is their report.

They're saying better than PSSR! Impressive.. guess it's really close to Nvidia's solution. I'm interested in seeing how the 9070XT or whatever their highest end card will perform, we already know AMD are only aiming for the mid range (or upper mid range) with these new cards but it will still be interesting to see how they compare to a 5070Ti on price/performance.

But certain apps don't play well with AMD that do with Nvidia cards, shame because these cards could be great/price performance.. but not an issue for pure gamers.

Visually it may well be similar to DLSS, but they were quick to point out that they do not have any actual performance data at this point. Time will tell, but it is definitely promising and good to see them impressing.

Interesting. Since AMD is largely behind PSSR, they’ve now sort of have two different upscalers in play. Curious to see how it all pans out.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic198d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23198d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1198d ago (Edited 198d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger189d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
