Even the PS3 is worth more buying the system. Besides the next installment of Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime and Smash Bros there ain't much innovation in games/gameplay and gaming goodness in general on that supercharged Gamecube.

Can't see Zelda coming next year unfortunately. They always get delayed because the Zelda team are perfectionists.
Which is not a bad thing.
I'm a patient guy. I'll happily wait until Zelda is ready. They're usually worth it.

That's why TP came out on Wii and Gamecube. It was due to be just a Gamecube game but it over ran so much that the Wii was releasing and they had to get a Wii version out too. They would have updated Zelda and made it Wii exclusively but Nintendo promised they would release for Gamecube ... even though they were about to stop supporting it... oops!

Actually, a Zelda game coming out next year isn't entirely unfeasible. Twilight Princess came out in November of 2006, so at the very least, a late '09 release would give them a solid three years of development time.

Plus, when they delayed Twilight Princess an entire year for the Wii version, the only real work done at that time was mapping Wii Remote Functionality to the controls, which isn't exactly a job that requires much time or manpower (a couple of programmers, tops), so it's possible that the Zelda team's been working on the next game since well before Twilight Princess's release.

but why in the world would nintendo have a price drop? Its sales aren't slowing. Its had a slow Q4 not a bad year according to certain groups of people. If the console sells 800,000 units in one month in northamerica or still outsell ps3 and 360 and even psp occasionally with no brand new software in japan, it clearly doesn't need a price drop. Its called value by the way.

Sony and Microsoft's machines aren't valued at the prices given by the mass market and that is the reason for the price drops. If nintendo does the same then they will fall into the same category as the xbox and playstation in terms of value. A red ocean system if you will.

And that list despite what a few might say on this little website will spur sales to a few more million for the wii nest year easily in the face of killzone 2 , inffamous , gran turismo 5 and god of war 3.
I have nothing against the ps3 mind you, I am actually looking to buy one but I don't value it at its price tag, so i am looking for a cheaper deal.

I don't think the Wii needs a price drop because it is doing so well, even though it is still more expensive then the 360. I think they should sell Wii unit bundles that have The Conduit, MadWorld, or several hardcore games. And with bigger harddrives. If the 360 catches up they may need to do a price drop. Then the PS3 should drop 200 dollars (US). The Wii may probably not need one until 2010.

Most of these are instabuys for me. Granted, I doubt some of these are gonna be released in 2009 (for example, Mothership Tales of, and perhaps Dynamic Zan), but... oh god, I can't wait. It'll be a great year to be a Wii owner.

Final Fantasy CC: The Crystal Bearers - Assumed to be canceled as very little info has came out for it
Pikmin 3 - Not even a screenshot has been seen of this, only way we know it exists is because Miyamoto claimed it did
Mothership Tales of... - Not one screenshot has been shown and it has no title. 2010.

This list of "known" games is a joke. I own a Wii myself, and even have about 25 games for it, but this list isn't hyping me up for next year at all. It seems like they took every single game that has been mentioned and cited them as a 2009 release.

The last Crystal Chronicles was meh at best, even when I had 3 people playing it it wasn't too exciting.

The rest of the games should be really good though. Hopefully Boom Blox 2 will rip off LittleBigPlanet (Amazing game btw) and have a better sharing feature.

I have no hopes for a 2009 release for zelda, thats for sure, but some of the other games u mentioned are pretty sure to be released next year. The tales game was said by Namco to be released in 09, FFCC has been in development for long enough to be pushed to 2010(they already said its not cancelled and still in development, which is also a good thing since more time means more chances to be great) and pikmin was a game that many sites tought would be released this year, so i dont think its going past 2009. Im pretty sure we are gonna see a new Kid Icarus, which would be awesome

And to those with who are saying there are no good games, you should try to look online for games other than Halo or CoD so you can see how many great games are out there that dont have those hyped names. And if this probably wasnt your 1st console and you were at more than 15 years old, you would notice two potencial gems for the REAL hardcore gamers(those who have been playing since NES), not those 10 year old brats who think being hardcore is insulting people in "Generic FPS" #1,2,3 and 4....

Why people are so surprised. Third parties came in droves to the DS in its third year on the market. The Wii is trending identically to the DS. Also with the economy in the dumps right now, HD costs are extremely risky, so much so that even games slated for both ps3/360 are being scrapped. One game that waws supposed to be on the ps3 has been scrapped for a 360 version only. Ppl can say what they will about games being recession proof, but that's not entirely true. Many analysts are stating that the ps3 will have a weak xmas due to its price. Why is this important? because Wii may be alot of these third parties' saving grace, even if begrudgingly. They already have been for some time now with shovelware providing funding for HD projects. Just remember, third parties ALWAYS go to where the $$ is, those that don't go the way of the dinosaur.

Hardcore games? Oh, you mean Animal Crossing and Wii play? And by shooters, do you mean Fable 2 and Grand Theft Auto 4? Or was that motorstorm and Little Big PLanet? Or is it God of War and Ninja Gaiden? Go slit your wrists in manhunt 2, because that's pretty much the only hardcore game you're gonna get on the Wii. Then again, that is not even exclusive, I can play it on my PS3 with no issues. Hell, I bet Mad World will be ported to next-gen consoles with more features and will sell more. Sega would be dumb not to. Oh, and if you don't like shooters, then don't even count on "The Conduit" being on your must haves list. So much hype for a generic and horrible looking shooter than Wii owners don't even want.

Sorry, you can't play PS3 exclusives on PC. Besides, you'd need a sick set-up to run all games that come out on 360, PC and PS3; which makes people that complain about PS3 and 360 sound really stupid especially after being such Wii apologists. After all, I thought you didn't need next-generation technology? I guess you do when it comes to PC but you don't when it comes to consoles, even though you chose the platforms with the least amount of quality exclusives. Most PC exclusives are MMOs as of now but that's about to change soon. PS3 is getting several MMOs.

But have you even attempted to build a level? ... a decent level. Did you ever see the level where someone built a calculator. Yes, a calculator. That is proper hardcore!

Anyway, what are you doing? You're actually arguing against Nintendo by using those tactics. Mario is a cute little man dressed up in red and blue, dancing around in sparkly fantasy lands with cartoon enemies.
All Nintendo games are full of cute little cartoon characters that live in rainbow worlds. You're fighting a losing battle if you're defending Nintendo by arguing against cartoony graphics.

Beating Mario Galaxy on the minimum number of stars is easy and casual.
I didn't find Bowser particularly taxing.
BUT
Mario - 241 stars is not simple.
LBP - complex level creation is not simple. Also with LBP you can make a level as easy or as hard as you like.

Both Mario and LBP are casual to a point, but they are also hardcore too.

To condense these games down to a description about kiddy characters isn't doing them justice.
Mario games may have cartoon graphics, but everyone knows that to beat them properly is a "hardcore" challenge.
To get the most out of LBP is hardcore.

Leave the fighting to the fanboys. Nintendo looks like its got a good year coming and so does Sony, so it looks like you'll have a good next year! Enjoy.

Since Gears of War 3 and Resistance 3 will probably come out in 2010 the Wii will kick ass in 2009. Heck Wii owners barely have shooters, so of course a promising one like The Conduit is accepted by us Wii owners. We don't hate these type of games, but an oversaturation of anything is bad. Horrible. Sorry. Pathetic. Garbage. I'm not saying the games are going to be bad, but there's seriously not much to look forward to. And 2 of those games aren't even really games, just expansions, so scratch out GTA and Fallout DLC. Halo Recon, and Mass Effect 2 are the only kick-ass things coming out. Halo Wars wil defiantly be good, but not as much as Halo Recon and ME2.

So how can you 360 fanboys laugh at the Wii's list? Look at yours. It's sad. It's horrible. And Don't say, "Well, they'll announce more in 2009", because you can say the same thing about the Wii and PS3.

Looks like my 360 will be collecting dust this upcoming year. My Wii and PS3 on the other-hand will be getting overheated due to play time.

This guy single handedly proves an idea I had early on. I asked a question on another post a while back "what would Wii haters complain about after the AAA third party support came for Wii?" I believe it was VoiceofReason, who basically answered the question with a very matter of fact response. That response was pretty much verbatim of what Baum said. I guess some fanboys are really holding on tight, grasping at straws, moving goal posts, whatever it takes not to accept the fact that Wii has taken over our industry.

"Not one good game" gimme a break. Nintendo also plays things close to the chest, always have. We won't know what other gems they got lined up. They are the industry veterans, the trailblazers. The other question I have is, well, if the Wii list is so horrible, why are you here? Why bother posting games that will be on the 360 in a news section for Wii. If we wanted that info we'd know where to find it. I find it so amusing to see Wii haters the first to post in Wii news. Its hilarious..and also..kinda sad.

Yeah, that's true. I go to check out a Wii article with a decent amount of heat and comments only to find that Wii haters were the first to post there.
