Me too. Never been so anxious to play a game before.

DarXyde1668d ago

But...you have no choice.

;0)

The_Sage1668d ago

So true. From this point on I will avoid info.

Samonuske1668d ago

It was so easy to pretend like this game didn’t exist before they announced a release date. Now I know it’s imminent I absolutely can’t wait! the waits going to kill me. I’m hoping Death Stranding can at least keep me busy for a months after I finish Shenmue 3.

ziggurcat1668d ago

Don't tell me what to do, mom.

Smokehouse1668d ago

I was hoping after god of war that he would have moved passed this form of cinematic game but I guess not. Everyone always seems to be bitching about handholding in games but then praise shit like this out of the other side of their mouth. What’s the difference? Sounds a lot like “the game will be played for you for the best experience”. I hope not, we’ll see.

AspiringProGenji1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

He pretty much said ND did a great job avoiding spoilers in the last trailer and wants us to experience the game ourselves, not anything related to gameplay

What’s wrong with games like this? And how was GoW handholdy at all? Not even the first TLoU game was

Smokehouse1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

The first game plays itself. God of war is perfect, I was hoping this game was more like GOW and less like TLOU/UC4. Forced cinematic outcomes that pretend like you are playing. It’s all for cinematic effect and curation, I get it. People like that, I get that too. I was just hoping this game was different is all.

Rhythmattic1668d ago (Edited 1668d ago )

"Forced cinematic outcomes"

WTF does that have to do with the gameplay?
Just Like when FMV's were first introduced games, it was another way to narrate a story, in many cases setting up Chapters , call them "Bookends" so to speak...

But ill consider your statement, load up the game, start it and watch it play itself.

Opinions.......but this one, I mean, Really. smh

bluefox7551668d ago

I dunno, GoW did the semi-open world thing perfectly, I loved it. But TLoU did linear games perfectly, which I also loved. There is room for multiple formats, not every game has to play the same to be fun.

Smokehouse1668d ago

Completely fair point and I didn’t mean to sound like I disagree with that. The best games to me come down to choice not curation but I like linear games too.

GOW is fairly linear and it does it perfectly. The openness and downtime in the boat was interesting but the focused bulk of GOW was linear and it didn’t drag on forever, in fact you can save the conversation for later. A small win for choice not curation imo. But it’s what you did in the linear hallways that made it fun. IMO of course. You walk slowly in god war sometimes to focus on a story plot. Sometimes, not a vast majority of the time. I’m just saying I think god of war hit that standard for me in pacing and I want TLOU to have that. That’s just my hopes for the game, I’m not demanding anything or trying to change anything you like. That answers a few of your posts.

Bathyj1668d ago

Read the article and you'll see why you're going off on a tangent based on the headline only..

Smokehouse1668d ago

Aside from you reading my post in an angry voice, you’re right lol. And previous games of course. The cluster of 10 minute long cinematic cutscenes didn’t spoil anything for you did they? Plenty more where that came from. Masterwork.

Abcdefeg1668d ago

Meh the walking talking moments were the equivalent of cutscenes in gow and most of the side content was kinda lame with shallow quests and repetitive enemies

The_Sage1668d ago

Smokehouse,

I say this in the kindest way possible... You're goofy.

AsunaYuukiTheFlash1668d ago

Go play your shovelware games like SOT,Ryse,Geow etc...

Smokehouse1667d ago

What is SOT? Really dumb comment by the way. God of war is in the post, did you just knee jerk into your Xbox fanboy copy and paste?

Square & Bandai Namco Being Honest About Quality Is A Step In The Right Direction

Saad from eXputer: "After suffering from massive financial hits, Square Enix & Bandai Namco appear to be turning over a new leaf but I'm still unconvinced."

Nerdmaster10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

I was talking about games with some Japanese guys here in Japan, and it seems like around here Bandai Namco has a fame of making low-quality games, with the occasional gem.

About Square Enix, I believe they lack the capacity to improve. They should learn with Capcom (although even Capcom still makes some bad mistakes), but I don't think they ever will. They keep chasing whatever is new at the time (blockchain, AI...) to say "we innovate", without considering the public perception and if these things actually improve the games or not. Them releasing too many small games with no advertising also shows a lack of trust in its own products. Even with their biggest games, like turning FF into an action game with XVI and the very divisive plot changes regarding whispers and timelines in VII Remake, shows them trying to attract a new generation of gamers without understanding what made the series so big in the first place.

shinoff21839h ago

I want a true ff7 remake. With thatcsaid I'm way happier with 7 remake then I was with ff16. I'd still prefer turn based but square keep chasing these Lil kids

Snookies126h ago

Man, it is perfectly fine to prefer turn based. Turn based is amazing. But there's zero reason to call anyone who likes action games "lil kids". Liking one gameplay system over another does not make you more mature in any way.

VersusDMC9h ago

People love the new FF's overall...the problem is the abundance of 7's they release that lose money or make very little like diofield, star ocean divine force, Valkyrie asylum, harvestella, foam stars, etc. Advertising wouldn't have saved those games. Apparently Forespoken had a big Advertising budget but we saw how that went.

shinoff21838h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Star ocean divine force actually sold well from what I've read not ff type numbers but well enough. Was a dope game to.

FinalFantasyFanatic7h ago

Bandai Namco is going to Bandai Namco, I do believe that Square Enix can't change without changing the entire management, they've had these issues for more than a decade and haven't learnt, I have very little faith they can course correct. I'll still buy their better remasters/remakes like Star Ocean 2 though (not FF7R).

Asterphoenix5h ago

Namco is just milking the same Sword Art Online with lack of budget as well as anime IPs that don't go to decent developers like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia. Namco deserves their losses and no future Dot Hack or Xenosaga remaster :(.

Square allocated lot of their budget on Forspoken was a mistake. Square always had management issues. Star Ocean 2 was a great remake and I found their recent entries of FF(16 and Rebirth) better than 13 and 15.
I think they were better than 360/PS3 generation where Square went really downhill.

CrimsonWing698h ago

I don’t know why NOW they decide on this, but I guess later is better than never.

Baldur's Gate 4 Has a Huge Uphill Battle Without Larian

With confirmation that Larian Studios will not develop another Baldur's Gate game, the fourth entry has a major challenge on its hands.

Larian had big shoes to fill themselves. Hopefully another studio can pull off the same miracle, but uphill battle is an understatement at this point. It feels impossible that BG3 even exists and accomplishes what it does.

franwex11h ago

I doubt anyone will attempt a Baldur’s Gate 4 for minimum a decade. It took about 20 years to get a third one for a a reason.

shinoff21838h ago

I'd just copy every single thing larian did obviously with different story and characters. Sometimes innovation isn't needed at that particular time.

RiseNShine51m ago

i remember in an interview that it was Larian asking constantly that they wanted to develop Baldurs Gate 3, there has to be some really ugly business going behind the scenes for them to leave in such a way, no DLC no sequel nothing, either they are getting very low return after the huge success, or some of the business practices they have seen are truly terrible.
