Nintendo teases Super Mario Sunshine 2, Switch remake, or Odyssey DLC

Nintendo is likely teasing a Super Mario Sunshine 2 or Switch remake, thanks to a tweet where the use of the word 'sunshine' raised eyebrows.

Same here. Most people call it the worst 3D Mario but I loved it for doing something so different, and the soundtrack and locations were all great. Not saying it’s the best but I like it just as much as any of the other games

Nintendo never do direct sequels unless it’s on that system at the end. Super Mario Galaxy 2 being on the Wii aswell and how we’re getting Breath of the Wild II for this gen.

A Link Between worlds was released on the 3DS.

Wind Waker was released on Gamecube.
Phantom Hourglass was released on DS.

They have indeed released direct sequels outside of the same system.

As much as I'd like a sequel I would also like more for Odyssey. It was a solid game, and it kinda introduced the idea of there being a whole world for Mario to explore and not just a kingdom. That one Sunshine tease looked way too good and I'm still hoping it was real.

The highlight of Sunshine were the retro stages and the atmosphere, the design was otherwise really rough by Nintendo’s standards. The graffiti spraying was just a virtual community service punishment.

Would be cool if it’s a remake. I’ve seen some people saying it could be a sequel which in then means end of system life cycle. I mean it makes some sense. I mean I see breathe of the wild 2 being released for next Christmas season, there gonna need something for next year, then what next. And again to me it all make sense and with the light version coming out as well and new version with longer battery life.

I said this as soon as I saw the switch and what it was, this system from the start was there system to be the successor of the DS. Here me out, I’ve just always seen it as a portable, yes it had a way to play at home but so did the superboy and game boy player of GameCube and what they did with the switch was just a souped up version of that. and now with the new systems there releasing which provide even more room for more portability play just adds more file to my idea. I see them talking about there new system next e3 and I really could see them even releasing soon and that release being lined up with the Olympics. I mean there apart of the hosting gig as we saw. Or to be released with the opening of the new theme park.

I loved Sunshine, but it's notoriously the "least" popular of the 3d Mario sandbox style games. What would the incentive be for Nintendo to make a sequel to it, over the likes of 64, Galaxy, or Odyssey itself?

Sunshine is the only Mario game I haven't played so I would be really excited for a remaster of this title, I watch the Giantbomb crew play through the game and it looked like so much fun.

Having said that, I'd give my left knacker for a Galaxy 1&2 remaster, they are my favourite Mario games by far.
