Of ALL the titles in the Nintendo family... The very first Gameboy Mario, which sold 18 million copies and was a global success is the black sheep??? In a world where Hey You Pikachu exists Super Mario Land is the black sheep? How old is the writer of this article? In Mario Land Mario runs, he jumps, and he shoots fireballs. LITERALLY the same things he did in the first game.
The one that really looks like a fan hack is SMB 2 USA (NES). That wasn't even a Mario game to begin with, but something with entirely different characters called "Doki Doki Panic".
Super mario land was horrible. Super Mario Land 2 was amazing though
