Catness Game Studios will be giving "unlimited" free key codes for HIVE: Altenum Wars from today June 22nd to Sunday 24th, and they are doing so to celebrate the game’s first big update.
David Rodriguez: "This will be an essential requirement for the bigger game studios on the next-gen."
I think if they release around 2020 we will have 4k@ 60fps. Anything sooner it will be tough to get the required hardware to reach that milestone.
7nm has already entered mass production, it will be mature next year, there is nothing better coming in 2020 so what you're saying isn't supported by the evidence.
2019 will be when costs will allow for a 4K native console, with next gen visuals, but 60FPS will require sub-native resolutions, current 8th gen visuals, with ultra settings, some improved AI and increased physics because of the vastly improved CPU architecture and more efficient GPU architecture, which will feature 2X the threads per Compute Unit.
2020 will not provide any improvements in either cost or yields or the processing capacity of the most up to date AMD technologies.
4K 30FPS should be good for next gen visuals, AI and Physics in well optimized games, 60FPS will be doable with Checkerboarding for 4K final output visuals.
Not going to happen. Sony's studios value graphics over smooth gameplay. You're stuck with 30fps.
Why can I choose performance mode or immersion mode on God of war then? Why could I choose between a locked 60 fps vs unlocked fps on infamous second son? Your ignorance is cringed worthy. Please keep quiet if you have no idea what's going on.
Keep on deep throating Xbox, Xbone. Well at least we have Exclusives, finished Exclusives, get update on games that have been delayed, not like *cough* Crackdown 3 *cough* and not make fake promise that is the best line up of all time each year and tell the community that single player game is dead or lie that there no need for upgrade Console since power of the cloud can make the system stronger but then come up with an upgrade console or falsely advertise a game campaign mode and then make the MC less playable with repeatable boss fight or talk about how we need a camera in order to use a console or focus a reveal conference and completely focus on TV and a real life car or required to always be online or in order to lend a friend a game, he needs to pay $60 and to get it back you need to pay another $60 or if you don't have a great internet "deal with it" and keep using Xbox 360.
In that case, Phil Spencer agrees with Sony and you will be stuck with 30 fps as well.
GC: What also frustrates me is that the only number I do care about is the only that you and Sony don’t obsess over. Which is 60fps, which I understand is easier to do on the Xbox One X than any other console.
PS: That’s correct. But… [laughs] Why do you care about 60fps?
https://metro.co.uk/2017/06...
But you are just talking out of your ass anyway....
I don’t mind some games to be 30fps with top notch graphics but shooters must be 60fps mandatory.
Um current consoles are capable of 4k 60...its the devs that decide to use the power for graphics instead. There is no way to make a console that is always 4k60 unless you stipulate that in the license agreement for devs.
1080p 60fps and 4k 30fps video setting
1080p 4k 60fps recording end streaming
Ps4 backward
nvme ssd slot
Unfortunately, for a console with that power with an NVME slot, it would most likely end up costing $700+ dollars.
How does gamingbolt manage to find the most no-name devs to write articles about? I bet if I said I was making a game, they would interview me!
The irony is the big AAA developers often refuse to make 60fps games on consoles because they know graphics sell and is easier to advertise than faster frame rates.
A tear came out of my eye reading this comment..... its so true
I think as these consoles are giving more options for visual settings, the 2 or 3 settings should be reviewed individually. They can say... yeah native 4k looks great but 1600p 60 works and looks great.
80% of the gaming market is casual gamers who don't even notice the difference between 30/60fps FACT or give a fuck, just saying.
They both already support 4k/60fps. Whether it can achieve that or not depends on how taxing the developers make their games.
it will be the same for until higher resolution TV's are out and as popular as 4K, by then, power would be their to support it. 1080p 60fps and 4k 30fps will still be a thing for PS5.
60 fps with a low-mid range CPU is a challenge nowaday it will be the same in 2020.
It really depends on how fast the manufacturing process for CPUs evolves. By 2020, we could have a small enough CPU that isn't ridiculously expensive that wouldn't bottle neck a powerful GPU/APU.
2020 is 7nm, same as 2018-2019. We might not get 4nm until 2022 or later.
TBH they might as well release it next year. There's no point in waiting tech-wise, we're not getting a much bigger jump/price drop by waiting.
Waiting is beneficial. PS4 is still selling like Hot cakes, until it starts to die out in sales, no point in even announcing the successor. Unless MS does, you don't want to give MS a year head start again
Teflon
Can't see how that makes sense. By that Logic PS2 and Wii would have never released because why give up on their old installbases?
Also, waiting just means less optimization on the 7nm node. We're literally cutting it's life short. Better to get the system out there so we'll have optimized games earlier, before the next node comes out and we're outdated again.
Lastly we used to be on the edge of technology, now not so much. PS3 was a markedly long generation and PS4 has already outsold it.
Hoping Sony will just buy more units upfront to get a better deal if AMD will sign off on it.
Thats most people, but devs know thqt to sell their game or pictures in a magazine it needs to be the highest res possible. I have a ps4pro and while playing god of war and switching between 4k or whatever and 1080 +35 fps... i gladly picked 4k. Its choice that needs to be given.
God of War performance mode is 45-60fps. I tried to play it on resolution mode and it felt like someone put weights on Kratos. The movement was so stiff.
So performance mode for me.
It’s funny how people say next gen 60fps and 4K is a must when the Nintendo Switch is a ninth generation console.
Why does Nintendo get a pass?
Question... When does nintendo not get a pass? I love Nintendo for being the main consoles of my childhood but I really hate how everything they do is praised. People really praised overpriced F'n cardboard. They'll be praised for anything.
Yes that should be a basic function. Also, they should do 8K@30fps. Why? Because 8K is already here and by 2020-2021 they will be available everywhere for $1000-$5000(and up). So many people can buy an 8KTV by than.
the only way your going to tell the difference between 4k and 8k is your tv is 10 foot wide
Yeah, they said that about 720p vs 1080p and 1080p vs 4K. I'll take my chances with a 65" 8KTV.
8K for television... The reality -just a fact if anyone wants to research averages- is that a VERY large percentage of people either have screens that are too small or are sitting too far away from their screens to fully resolve the detail of lowly 1080p let alone 4K. According to most of the "experts" the ideal distance for a 65" 4K television (to fully resolve the detail with perfect vision) is approx. 4'! Yes, 4' from a 65" screen -- which incidentally places the viewer too close to achieve THX recommended viewing angles. That may be a neat novelty but it is not generally considered desirable for most applications or any duration. Now, granted you can move out to a little under 7.5' and still have benefit, but change that to 8K and the beneficial distances relative to the size of the panels become utterly absurd for televisions. If the topic is the wide acceptance of 8K than we have to also consider that so much of the movie industry is not even currently/reliably using 4K as a standard. The point? For most purposes, and in many ways, 8K may as well be 16K... It sounds impressive, but there is RELATIVELY little practical reason for MOST industries and or consumers to move that way. Improvements with HDR, response times, motion handling, and other picture elements would be far more useful in the foreseeable future.
@883
You are absolutely right! I'm already having trouble with my 65" viewing distance, and would like to have a 75", but not too many furniture manufactures even support that kind of TVs. If you go 75" or over you really need to modify your whole living room and the furniture around the TV and that is just not going to go well with design-oriented counterparts in families. Can't even see text that well in most games...
I think 75" is probably the sweet spot for most TVs and 4K for that is great. Samsung KS9000 65" is fine as is, but in the next apartment we buy, there will be a fully fledged hometheater room where a 4K/8K HDR Optoma projector will be the star. TV can be left for children in the shared living room space. But yeah, 4K should be the standard for years to come, just like 1080p was.
8k won't happen till at least 2025 with 4k/hdr now slowly becoming the standard for movies and some shows it will be at least 5 more years before they start to work on or even care for 8k. And 8k won't be that cheap by 2020. Nice try
We are both speculating as none of us know the future. So, nice try on your part too.
Yeah imo. 4k is just a hold me over for 8k. 4k is great but, IMO 8k is the one that will be true ultra hd. 4k is not 4x resolution but, instead 4x pixel density which only gives 2x resolution over 1080. I mean 3840x2190 vs 1920x1080 will tell anybody who spent a couple of minutes and hours for those behind to understand. But, by then after the hype of 4k, 8k quality will be marginalized unfortunately. So I'm just saying save the big bucks for 4x the above numbers and not 4x the pixel density. But, ball how you want to.
Also if you don't see a difference in 720 vs 1080 then just go for 4k but, new things will probably arise to aid 8k.
I do see the difference between 720p and 1080p. I said that people made this argument and still do right here, just look above, that you can't see the resolution differences on certain size TV's. Well I got a 65" Bravia and sure can tell if something is 720p, 1080p or 4K. The differences are huge. I'm willing to bet that on a 65" TV I will be able to tell the differences between 4K and 8K as well. But people keep on disagreeing so what can I say? 😁
I agree.
I don't see the point of a new generation of consoles (graphics / power wise) if they can't handle 4K/60fps. They need to be powerful to handle this, not just barely handle it like we often see on 1080p/60fps.
Disagree. Only the top cards that cost over 600 dollars support 4k 60fps atm. Expecting a console which is designed to be a cheaper entry point to gaming to have that for next gen is asking a bit much. I'd expect no more checkerboarding for 4k necessary with better visual fidelity and over all graphics quality at 30 fps for the big games. And finally 1080p 60fps mostly guaranteed.
If ps5 launches in 2020 it could absolutely do some weird resolution like 1400-1800 p with 60 fps.. Some games are already doing checkerboard 4k 30 so to get native 4k 30 in the ps5 should be a breeze. The xb1x is what 1.5 times greater than the pro? But look at the difference between the pro and base ps4... if the pro was just a mid gen upgrade and not a true step forward, wont the ps5 be at least 3 times as powerful as the pro? And if thats the case it.better be able to native 4k 30 at the very least on high settings.
Sure 4k 60fps will be supported, but I am going to stress it again that not every game will be 60 and will probably never be.
At best we can hope for a mandatory 60fps mode enforced by Sony that sacrifices resolution for games that otherwise run 4K 30fps to allow them to run at 60fps. And more likely than not some few games will still be sub 4k regardless of framerate with some sort of scaling to output at 4k.
Developers choose for themselfes and consoles are static hardware, they only have so much power and resources and they will decide for themselfes where to spend the power available as they always have. No gen as far as I can recall have had every single game meet a specific arbitrary framerate or resolution standard, some games on ps3 and 360 werent even 720p like halo 3, gta 4 and Resistance 3.
1080/60 is a more likely scenario or even 1440p/60 but 4k/60 is a bit too much to expect especially if we're looking at a max of 500 usd price point for these next gen consoles.
However, true 4k/30 will definitely be the norm next gen.
100% agreed with the headline. Don't need to read any further. 4k 60FPS should be the standard on the PS5.
4k 60 fps won't be happening. They would require a 12 Tflop console JUST to match this generations graphics.
Since we are on the cusp of 1080p -> 4k mainstream, next gen is still a mystery for consumers, but since 1080p isn't coming back and 4k is the future, I suspect a bit more that next gen may be native 4k, "especially since mid gen upgrades basically said, "HEY, we ARE the 4k devices!!!!".
But they'll be 4k 30 fps.
Since the dev kits went out and the hardware available was at, "reasonable, it's a console", 10-12 tflops max, it's safe to say that's what next gen will be.
I personally think 4k, 30 fps and the visuals promised at the start of this gen that was a lie, "Remember Watch Dogs or Witcher 3 gameplay teaser videos???"
Then a few years in I expect a, "Pro", version that gives 4k 60 fps. But who knows?
As long as people don't complain about the price of the console in order to achieve the specs then we are good to go
It's all up to the devs if they want 4K/60 or 4K/30 or 1080p/60.... If we can get what we get now then I totally expect more legit 4k games next Gen, with either 30 or 60 frames. 30 frames is more then fine for some games but stuff like shooters if they want 4k resolution then they should make it for 60 frames only. Also most of today's 4k games arnt in fact true 4k in order for a game to be truly 4k the actual 3D graphics and textures have to be 3840x2560 resolution most right now are just 1080p textures and graphics put into a 4K resolution. You know if a game is legit 4K if it's over 100GB.
Yes. This is a bare min.
Also hope Sony advances the controller design and add more things to it.
Also, I hope game engines gets a leap too, and gaming advances, how you play, what you play with, types of games, a more worldwide approach to games not mostly designed for US market. Character movements are still very much stilted. I wonder if Sony could design their own game engine to take advantage of the PS.
current gen titles may run 4k/60 but as time goes on, res & performance will take a hit like always..
4k 30 with checkerboard 60. Later titles will have dynamic resolution. 4k 60 will be PS4 titles on the new console if bc goes without a hitch. I really hope that Sony waits because we can see that new hardware without games is weak on sales. Also price 400. P.S. you have to remember that true next gen titles must be in development for 3-5 years. Basically new consoles in the beginning will use their power for post processing.
Most gamers are uninformed and ignorant. That's perfectly fine. We don't all have to be tech nerds in order to enjoy games. But if you don't know what you're talking about, please shut the fuck up.
And you're gonna see plenty of 30 fps next gen.
So...have a cracker, dry your eyes and deal with it
