“Detroit: Become Human is Quantic Dream’s Most Successful Title Yet”

Great to hear! They did a great job with this game and it’s a big step up from Cage’s previous titles. The visuals are also top notch and the character models are the best I’ve seen to date.

thejigisup2153d ago

Been playing for about 6 hours now. One of the best games this year. The story is compelling and the game feels really well polished in just about every aspect. Can't wait for another play through.

Ceaser98573612153d ago

My take on the game

Detroit become human : 9/10

Just beat the game and i loved every second of it. The ending was intense and satisfying and had my heart racing. Incredible experience. This game surprised me. This is by far cage's best and most consistent game yet. It's a technical masterpiece on PS4 pro with movie quality sound, lighting and camera work, which is backed up by some top quality action and a wonderfully evocative score. Detroit really worked for me . I was gripped by the story and connected with the characters, but I think some players may have a hard time relating to Kara, Markus, and Connor.Maybe it's because there are so many different branches and outcomes to the story This is Quantic Dream’s best game so far.

Time to Platinum the game, did mess up few so got to get it right

ArchangelMike2153d ago

I absolutely loved Detroid Become Human, and am on my second play through. I was actually on my second play through (as well as watching KindaFunnyGames review the game) that I realised just how different the experiences people have with this game will be, and why some people will have very different views on the characters and story of the game.

For example in my first play though Connor and Kara never even met. However in my second play through, I had one of the best experiences that I have ever had in a game, with my heart in my mouth all the way through when Connor and Kara's storyline collide and he's chasing her down a busy highway, I won't say anymore, but at the end of that sequence, I was stunned to say the least at what my choices led to.

Absolutely brilliant game. I hope this is the first Quantic Dream game to get more content, either a story DLC (I would love to continue Connor or Markus's story especially after how my game ended), or I would love to see a sequel. It would be a bit of a nightmare trying to find the canon ending (if thee even is one).

starchild2153d ago

Defintely good news for Quantic Dream. I really enjoyed Heavy Rain. I played through it a couple times. I also really loved Until Dawn. So I figure I'm probably the right audience for Detroit Become Human. Plus, I just really enjoy the themes the game is dealing with. I think I need this to be one of my next game purchases.

Kribwalker2153d ago

It’s quite funny how different the same article for different games is.

Here they state it’s their best performing release (even though it sold 1/4 of the first weeks total of heavy rain https://www.resetera.com/th... ) and they give no numbers and everyone’s cheering

Go here
http://n4g.com/news/2175676...

and everyone is trying to downplay it, saying what’s the sales numbers, it’s all gamepass trials 🤣

oh the irony

Nyxus2153d ago

Not sure why you're responding to me, I didn't even comment in that State of Decay article. But the point is that at the end of the day, Detroit is doing well, and I am glad it is.

Kribwalker2153d ago

@nyxus
not a direct response to you, just a general response to the reaction here and there

MasterCornholio2152d ago (Edited 2152d ago )

Well in order for both to be true it means that the game sold alot better everywhere else in order to compensate for the drop in sales in the UK.

Unless you want to accuse either of the two sources of reporting fraudulent sales.

Congratulations Quantic, incredible game. Insomniac...your next!

mandingo2153d ago

Definitely not incredible but a decent game for sure

Araragifeels 2153d ago

Did you play the game or did you assume that?

Dark_Knightmare22153d ago

Did you play the game? If so what were your problems with it?

mandingo2153d ago

I have not played it. However, its a David Cage game and I've played his previous titles and they were decent but not incredible. Also, it's a 79 on metacritic making it a decent to good game but not incredible.

nowitzki20042153d ago (Edited 2153d ago )

You definitely do not know what you are talking about.. Maybe gaming isnt your thing, try collecting something instead

TFJWM2153d ago

You do understand that to get a 79 on metacritic a large amount of people think it is an incredible game...

2pacalypsenow2153d ago (Edited 2153d ago )

Ignore Mandingo, dude is huge Xbox fan, his opinions on PlayStation should be taken with a grain of salt.

Dude trolls every PlayStation game and praises every Xbox game.

He praises Quantum break and sea of thieves, but calls Detroit a decent game without even playing it...

doggo842153d ago (Edited 2153d ago )

"I have not played it"

Then keep quiet, you're irrelevant

trooper_2153d ago

You haven't played it and yet you speak like you've played it.

🤔

Snookies122153d ago

Did you seriously just try to downplay a game when you haven't even played it? Lol, that's hilarious.

mandingo2153d ago

When did I praise Sea of Thieves? I said it was fun not that it was incredible. As for Quantum break, yea that was a great game and a 77 on metacritic does that make it incredible? Hell no, you guys throw the word incredible around way to loosely. While were at it lets call every game incredible when the consensus clearly says otherwise.

mandingo2153d ago

David Cage games are like the next call of duty. You already know what you're getting

thejigisup2153d ago

I dare you to go out, purchase a ps4, purchase this game, then speak about it. The game is incredible, and once you play it you'll see why. Even just technically, the game is incredibly impressive. I've wanted the Kara tech demo to have a game or just to know more story about that(if you thought the Kara tech demo from a few years back was great, this is better). No, David cage games aren't like call of duty in the sense that you already know what you're getting.
David cage games have been known to have great stories, good to great graphics, interesting and compelling controls(they aren't perfect and don't always work), and they push the medium of video games with each entry. Where's as call of duty story is middling at best, standard fps controls, and hasn't done anything significant to innovate the genre or gaming as of late. I think every gamer should get the chance to play an hour or two before they start talking about the game. Detroit thus far has proven to be a goty contender and deserves the praise.

Thatgrammar2153d ago (Edited 2153d ago )

Actually, it is you’re. You’re grammatically correct. Figure out your grammar XxSPADEZxX.

Realms2153d ago

Why would anyone take the opinion of an xbox fanboy seriously? He hasn't even played the game and basing his comment on the metacritic score. Until Dawn has a review average of 79 as does Detroit Become Human by all indications from gamers that have played the game it's the best game in the genre.

Gunstar752153d ago

Welcome to the Xbox gamers experience of N4G. I'm not seeing many downvote to comment on here, but check any Xbox game article and it's full of downvote.

Toxicity is toxicity and it sucks

Realms2153d ago

@ Gunstar75

Right because xbox fanboys don't constantly troll PS articles stop playing victim many of them like to make off hand comments but don't like it when people call them out on their BS and get defensive by saying why are you picking on us. Just look at j-blaze's comment below you because that's adding so much to the discussion oh wait it's not it's just him hating.

Detroit: Become Human has sold more than 8 million copies

Quantic Dream has sent Gamereactor a press release stating that Detroit: Become Human now has sold more than 2,5 million copies on PC, making it surpass 8 million across all platforms.

That's great. Quantic Dream took everything they learned from their past games and built the most refined, coherent and interesting game and story yet. I even bought it on both PS4 and PC.

Seraphim463d ago

I preferred Beyond Two Souls. Still, Detroit was an exceptional experience just like Heavy Rain. Definitely happy to see the game has sold well over the years.

Fist4achin463d ago

Beyond was outstanding. Their other games were great, but BTS was my favorite so far.

CrimsonIdol463d ago (Edited 463d ago )

It took them nearly 5 years to accomplish that compared to a game that's just come out. Willing to bet a majority of those sales were heavily discounted too. Quantic Dream games were always heavily spruiked by Sony as exclusive graphical showpieces for the Playstation, so I'm sure that helped out too.

For reference the original Dead Space sold 2 Million over its lifetime, so some new IP from a new studio approaching that in its first year or so really isn't that bad.

sagapo463d ago

Great game, really enjoyed this one.

Detroit: Become Human Surpasses 6.5 Million Units Sold

PSU writes: "Detroit: Become Human has surpassed 6.5 million units sold, between both PS4 and PC, after hitting the six million mark last July."

NecrumOddBoy769d ago (Edited 769d ago )

Nice. This is a must play and by far the best of QD’s titles (although I have huge love for Heavy Rain).

ApocalypseShadow769d ago

Agreed. This was a very good game. But I guess I love the genre that deals with humans and android like Almost Human which was cool watched in order but was cancelled, Humans, Ex Machina, I Robot, etc. I watch them all.

Cage definitely got this one right. It goes over similar material as other TV, movies and books, but it was put together well. Glad it sold.

S2Killinit768d ago

There is a very interesting show on HBO for you. Its called “raised by wolves”

porkChop768d ago

Almost Human was great. Yet another show that Fox killed with their meddling. I remember the show took two separate 2-3 week breaks in the middle of the season, just a couple episodes apart.

TallDarknWavy767d ago

This was a massive missed opportunity. Instead of really exploring the narrative that AI will one day replace humans, David Cage instead made a racism and slavery allegory with some of his dumbest writing to date. Just like all Cage games, he has the most condescending view of homeless people, who always have some secret society going on and are simultaneously the most moral, upstanding, ethical people, especially compared to anyone with money or power, who are cartoonishly bad. We get it Cage, you're a communist.

shadowT769d ago

love this game, Played it so many times and always got different endings. Even the main story line keeps the same, your actions and decisions can create a whole new plot.

769d ago
Godmars290768d ago

And? By all counts Quantic Dream/David Cage imploded their own reputation.

768d ago
Orchard768d ago (Edited 768d ago )

To this day, I am still very surprised that Sony did not buy Quantic. Especially after the HR, Beyond and Detroit era. Perhaps they tried but weren’t successful.

And now they’re off making multi-plats. Interested to see how their new title is.

CaptainHenry916768d ago

The same way I feel about Microsoft not buying Remedy 😁

Orchard768d ago

I’m glad that didn’t happen. The Microsoft back then is not the Microsoft of today, it would’ve limited their creativity and ultimately ruined Remedy.

A Remedy acquisition by Epic seems more likely nowadays.

SullysCigar768d ago

^ they didn't even need to buy Remedy to achieve that. See: CrossfireX

CaptainHenry916768d ago (Edited 768d ago )

@Sully

I guess you're right. Crossfire X is definitely one of the worse games I have ever played. I couldn't even finish the game.

768d ago
Orchard767d ago (Edited 767d ago )

@SullysCigar That hasn’t ruined Remedy though, most people associate CFX with SmileGate, not Remedy, and they still have a good reputation and will continue to have creative freedom - I have high hopes for AW2.

@CaptainHenry God, if you think CFX is one the worst games, you should try out some of the games that scored even lower than it :p I recommend Ride to Hell 😂

Knightofelemia767d ago

@Orchard

You will probably see Remedy snatched up by Tencent before Epic even makes or considers making a move on Remedy.

Quantic Dream didn't want to be purchased. Y'all act like a company can buy another anytime and without their approval.

kneon768d ago

If they are publicly traded then you can try, but QD is private company and are free to reject an offer for any reason, or no reason at all.

CrimsonWing69768d ago

Thank god they didn’t or anything from them would be censored worse than Indigo Prophecy was back in the day.

Godmars290768d ago

Likely because they don't have a sustained, ongoing IP. Something that could be done as a trilogy or series.

"The Microsoft back then is not the Microsoft of today,"

MS has really yet to show that they've changed.

768d ago
768d ago
Godmars290768d ago

@Comweb:

"Ori alone is more unique than the naughty dog clones and map marker open world trash sony craps out."

You put one indie title MS bought into after the fact of its popularity then made a co-op sequel against the entity of a Sony 1st-2nd party studio, and *I'm* the one in some kind of worship bubble?

As for console wars? There are none.

Nintendo's doing its own, low tech, thing, MS is more concerned with streaming than hardware, buying over making games and, as you said, Sony's more focused on open world action/drama.

Its really all about branding at this point and MS is struggling for something other than subscription online multiplayer when all they've done is subscription online multiplayer, as they transition to subscription gaming.

P_Bomb768d ago (Edited 768d ago )

“Ori alone is more unique than the naughty dog clones and map marker open world trash sony craps out. Maybe get out of ur sony n4g worshipping mentality…”

Um, Detroit: Become Human thread?

With how long they take to make games and how long they take to reach 6.5m sold with AAA budgets and being multiplatform, I can see why they didn't.

Orchard767d ago

Those are fair points. I guess back in the day I just assumed they’d end under Sony and they didn’t.

gamer7804767d ago

I love QD but I like new ip and story so I’m a bit disappointed there are making a Star Wars game.
