New Switch update out now (version 4.0.0) - video capture, transfer user / save data, eShop pre-load

A major system update is now available for Switch. Nintendo just issued version 4.0.0.

Can't capture as much time as on other systems, but it's a good start. Got a lot of moments throughout my journey in BotW that screenshots just don't do justice.XD

Eh, you can't transfer to SD cards though. This is just transferring between consoles, which has limited use.

Certainly true. This is at least a start though, and it shows that Nintendo is listening. We'll likely see SD transfers eventually, and cloud saves with the subscription service.

People want to transferable to an SD card, or have cloud saves, so that their data can be backed up. This update simply allows you to transfer the data to another Switch console. It's a step in the right direction but it doesn't solve the issue that you can't really back up your data.

The biggest feature I think is the ability to transfer save data. Also preloading is nice.

Why does that matter??? Your purchases are tied to your account and your save files are saved separately to the hardware. I don't get the problem your trying to point out????

It matters because if your system breaks, to the point that your saves are not recoverable, you're screwed. Being able to save to an SD card means you can take your saves to any system.

Damn. This was really out of nowhere and a pretty significant update too. Lol nintendo could at least give a heads up to curb some of the negativity that people had for the lack of save transfers. But hey, it's here and I was pleasantly surprised.

Not to be that guy, but 30 seconds on Switch, vs 60 minutes on PS4... Cool that they have something, but it’d be pretty cool to be able to record full multiplayer fights/ story segments like I can on PS4. Oh well.

Still got my fingers crossed that the rumored achievement system is real. Far more interested in that.

I don't think I'd ever use 60 minutes of recording (heck, I thought that the PS4 cap was 10 minutes). Though I do think that the Switch should be at least 2 minutes. That is the time I find most of my videos to be around.

60 minutes is a bit much, but at least it’s there. I’ve personally used it for uploading MP matches that take up anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes, so 30 seconds to me seems very low, especially given that it’s going to be at a lower resolution no less.
