Developer calls Nintendo "douches"

Former Nintendo employee Dan Adelman says that Nintendo are "being douches" about bringing Axiom Verge to the Nintendo Switch. He also states that they haven't confirmed they're bringing the game to Switch.

At this point, anyone who #1 can form a sane thought path through this, and #2 isn't neck-deep in Nintendo hate thanks to the article giving them an opening to vent their childishness, is probably doing the same thing I am.
There are plenty of people questioning why Axiom Verge isn't arriving quicker, and many of them are, like me, fans who enjoyed it on Wii U, but none of the people with any sort of rationality are calling Nintendo a douche over this.
If Nintendo's reason turns out to be a bad one, once we actually know what it is, then I might be inclined to agree with this article, but as it stands, it's just a clickbait & hater-gate article, and the anti-Nintendo douches on this site are just gnawing at that bone for dear life.

They never went after 3rd party developers, as they never needed to. Now big named 3rd party developers are mostly ignoring Nintendo as they don't have the installed base or the hardware developers really want to develop one. Switch will get a lot of Indies.

Back on topic, Nintendo needs to answer all developers in a timely manner. Their relationship with third parties has always been strained at best. They don't realize this isn't the 80's anymore.

Do yourself a favor and just get it. It's so fun. It's Metroid, Castlevania, Blaster Master and a few other oldschool games rolled into one. It also adds in it's own flavor. The music is especially outstounding. It's a great game, even moreso when you know it was developed by just one guy.

Not that the game is NOT coming, but that the developer had completed the game prior to launch, yet Nintendo is intent to sit on the laurels and green light it when they feel is appropriate.

So his douche comment is warranted off the fact that its taken the long and not because that game is not coming, eventually.

Yes and Nintendo needs to push Wii U to regain more costs due to low sales of the console coupled with an under performing library.

Wii U just like Switch needs every title it can get. Nintendo moved on to Switch and dumped Wii U meaning Nintendo isn't going to be making the Wii U product any better. It also means their sights are set on Switch, not Wii U.

I was told the game was masterpiece. Sorry but Axiom Verge is far from masterpiece. It's got no directions at all...just more and more random looking levels that make no sense whatsoever, making the upgrades in weapon seem meaningless. So, a development team who employed an ex-Nintendo employee (who left Nintendo because he went off message and violated their internal policies) makes a Metroid "inspired" game, submits it to Nintendo's indie quality assurance programme during its most busy time and complains that they're taking too long?

Perhaps if it had less bugs it'd be easier to pass through QA.

It's the same story from indies. They're used to submitting apps to Apple or Google who don't even check that the damn software functions before asking customers for money. When they go to a platform holder that actually cares about the consumer experience they can't understand why it takes time and work.

The solution is clear. Make less promises to gamers early on in the development process. Find a better way of making money than asking Kickstarter users, so that you don't have to put your entire plan out there for the world to see 9 years before it's ready. And actually learn how to code properly to compensate for ALL the platforms you want to release on: don't just assume that because it's good enough for PlayStation that means its good enough for Nintendo. PS4 users generally are "okay" to be told to "wait for an update to fix an error". If we're all to believe that Nintendo's core audience are families/children, they're not going to understand why a bug renders their game unplayable. Besides, customers deserve a highly polished product anyway. We shouldn't all be "okay" to accept that the game is broken until an update happens.

My whole point here is that there's always devs lashing out publicly like this and it's fine. It's human. But gamers don't understand it and media will play off these loud mouth comments to make something look worse than it is. The developer may be annoyed at the process, but that doesn't mean the process is bad, or flawed, or wrong.
