Doom is an incredible example of a shooter that understands what it is, and what makes it fun to play. Id Software has kept a laser focus on what it wanted to deliver with Doom, and the self-aware tone that it takes right from the beginning further amplifies the fun.

Especially after all the game "journalist" Previews a month before launch that said it was thrash. Seriously what game were they all playing. They almost killed (and probably hurt overall) the sales of the game.
I'm glad I bought this one. Old school fun. The only strategy I used ... Kill everything! Not only is it a blast, but it looks great too.
