Magic Knight Rayearth and Guardian Heroes makes me love my Saturn.:) Import games were great too, and if the US had seen more of some of the amazing things coming out for it in Japan, it may have actually stood a chance against PS. Unfortunately, Sega dropped it to rush out the DC to get the next edge on Sony, which ultimately led to too much disillusionment from publishers, and even many consumers who were growing tired of Sega's inability to utilize what was pretty compelling hardware in retrospect.

Failed game attempts.

The virtual boy: bringing 3d was a great idea, but making it all red on portable console that wasn't was not!

the 32X: Upgrading the popular Genesis was cool, competing with your own Sega Saturn with lackluster title was not.

The wonder book: It was the start of great adventures with lots of promise titles..... We only got 1.

Xbox one registering your disc: Registering your disc so the publisher could have control on second hand market seem like a ideal solution for the publishers ... The consumers thought otherwise.

32X could have been cool if they just had the support, it was priced cheaper, and all Genesis systems going forward included the hardware inside. Ultimately though, Sega dropped it too quick, and it's a prime example of why upgrading mid gen just isn't going to work.

Wonderbook had serious potential, and while it wasn't for me, and I'd imagine most hardcore gamers, it was a pretty cool concept for integrating AR into a learning experience for kids. Sony really dropped the ball on getting more support for it. Book of Spells was kind of lame, but the Walking with Dinosaurs was pretty cool, and made me wish my cousin's kids would visit more so I'd have more reason to break it out.:)

The other two things I can agree with, they should have never been a thought in the companies minds. I'd also add power glove to the list. Even the little support it did have worked terribly, and about all it was good for was playing as robots with your friends.

Love these types of articles. I remember Baby Pac-Man, and having absolutely no clue on how it played.
