Super Mario Maker: Super Mario Bros. 3 Level 1-1 Recreated in Super Mario World Style

JD Schmidt writes: "Super Mario Maker is a game that we’ve all dreamed about before. How many times have you thought, “I wish I could make my own Mario game”? And the new Wii U title allows you to do just that. It provides you with all the necessary tools to make your own epic Mario levels. But not only that, it also opens the door to let you experience classic Super Mario levels in a completely new way."

The start of (a million) 'new worlds'.

* I'm hoping this eventually leads to a 3D Super Mario Maker.

I want to make Mario 64-2.

Mario maker is awesome and 4 different visuals style gives you both nostalgia and modernity in your creation.
I'm glad that I decided to go with PS4 and Wii U this gen. Best of both world.

If Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break were on PS4 (and you can take away Splatoon and Knack for my tastes) I'd agree.

Sony will reckon it has Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break covered by Infamous and Uncharted. It kind of does but Sunset is more fun looking than Infamous and Remedy are given 5 years to make each game so it'll be pretty good.

jon_snow3147d ago

Infamous is awesome franchise. Each of infamous games sold a million plus which sunset has not achieved. Infamous deals with people with power and their moral choices, sunset is cartoonish people with ratchet and clank weapons fighting zombie like creatures.
Only a blind would compare Infamous with Sunset.
In simple sunset is ratchet and clank game but replaced with people as people in game move like ratchet, weapons all seem to be version of ratchet weapon and monsters/boss well kind of have moves of ratchet enemies.
So Better comparison would be between Ratchet and Sunset where Ratchet and Clank games beats sunset easily.

Picnic3147d ago (Edited 3147d ago )

I only mention Infamous and Sunset Overdrive together because they're traversing a city being able to quickly rise and fall great heights. If you think of other current gen games that allow that in a non mythological, non serious horror, modern city please let me know what that game is.

Wish I had money to buy this game. Played the demo for a good half an hour in the store. It was really fun and looking at things change between iterations.

Metroid Maker Should Be Next to Get a Super Mario Maker Treatment

Super Mario Maker has been a great series for Nintendo, but it is time to move on. How about a Metroid Maker? That would be interesting! Check out Jason Capo’s thoughts for more.

I hope Nintendo brings back real dungeons in BOTW 2!

deleted629d ago

Metroid certainly would be cool, but 100% Zelda dungeon maker should be the priority! It makes the most sense!

Jeriphro629d ago

The only issue with Zelda, for me, is that it won't have the same freedom of styles that Mario Marker has. Zelda 1, LttP, and the Game Boy ones could all possibly work, but Zelda also has a lot of 3D games. I guess if you limited the styles to Original Zelda, LttP, Minish Cap, and Link's Awakening, that could work. That's four different styles for a dungeon maker, but I think a Metroid Maker is closer to Mario and would probably be easier to make.

@Jeriphro Mario Maker drew mostly from its 2D roots, so I take no issue with a 2D only Zelda Maker. However, they also translated Mario 3D World elements into the 2D space, so I wouldn't mind that they do something similar with overhead Zelda games using more modern 3D elements too. A Link to the Past Remake shows how nice 3D elements can be implemented into the standard overhead Zelda view.

2D Zeldas were the games I grew up on anyways, A Link to the Past being one of my favorite games of all times! They halfway attempted a creator within the Links Awakening remake, but I'd like to see a fully realized creator. Of course though, Super Metroid was also once of my favorite games of all times so I'm dying to see a Metroid maker too. ;)

I mean there is a sequel available. My guess is Nintendo will want you to move towards a more current version.
