Forza Motorsport 6 review | GamesRadar

GR:
You can either look at Forza 6 as a 'driving game' or a 'racing game'. And, despite phenomenal quality (and I do mean phenomenal) throughout most of its production, it doesn't offer anywhere near the best driving experience available on console. As a racing game? I simply wouldn't call it that. I've been playing it all week and I've had one great race. One. Obviously, that is a problem.

One great race uh? Sorry I wont even indulge this review with a click. Game should have gotten a 1/5 if you didnt have a good race.

LAWSON723152d ago (Edited 3152d ago )

Guy must have played on easy settings, if you turn up the drivatars, get rid of some assists, there are some serious races to be had in Horizon 2 and F5, I doubt that is not the case with Forza 6. What a joke...

Gazondaily3152d ago

Well he gave DC 4.5/5 so his opinion on all things racers is not exactly that valuable to me.

He is so far off his opinion on this game but meh, who knows, maybe he genuinely struggled to like it.

Black0ut3152d ago

Always a couple low scores but opinions will be just that, opinions...

Glad that the game has gotten a majority of 85% and up scores. Turn 10 should be very proud of themselves.

Great times to be a gamer! :D

JonnyBigBoss3152d ago

I submit the following evidence:

Reviewer Tweeted that Forza 6 would be perfect with GRID's arcade physics.
Reviewer stated that payouts are inconsistent. Their algorithm is 100% consistent and based on race duration.
Reviewer says that A.I. is inconsistent. He didn't understand the real driver based Drivatar system.
Reviewer gave Driveclub a. 4.5/5.

Based on this evidence I've come to the conclusion that the reviewer is uneducated on the game as well as racing simulators. He clearly prefers arcade racers, which is fine, but has unfortunately misled consumers due to this.

Gazondaily3152d ago

Haha well said. Yeah that crossed my mind, especially the point about the AI

Rookie_Monster3152d ago (Edited 3152d ago )

the reviewer is a known fanboy and his bias is really showing when he review another console exclusive sim racer but gave it a stellar 4.5/5 and praising it to no end and also throw in a jab to Forza while reviewing it. Very unprofessional.

and here is his opening review post.

"You see that game on your shelf called Gran Turismo 5? Pick it up. Now drop it in the nearest bin and forget it ever happened. Gran Turismo 6 delivers the racer we always knew the PS3 and Polyphony were capable of. In fact, it’s so good that even its minor annoyances can’t hold it back from negating the generational divide and snatching back its title of ‘best console racing sim’, next-gen be damned.

Even on hardware from 2006, GT6 manages native 1080p, 60fps (except for replays and particularly busy moments), and grids full of immaculately-modelled, licensed cars. And it tops all of this off with day/night transitions and wet-weather racing. It’s the full package straight out of the box, making its next-gen competition (*cough* Forza 5) look like a demo. For lens flare effects. Yes, I just went there."

LOL, so he said one console sim is the greatest and gave it a 4.5/5 and said another one is not a racer and not fun and gave it a 3/5 when both series are about cars and sim racing. LMAO

Whatever, it is his opinion and the current 30 plus 9s and 10s out of 40 reviews so far across the board say otherwise.

I'm still getting the game but nothing in this guys review seems like nitpicking or bad. Seems like an honest opinion backed by his experience with the game. Not every game can be a 10 nor will it be a 10 to everyone. After playing the demo I felt like it would end up being a 7.5- 8.5 game if it's feel stayed the same in the full product. Not a bad score at all. Plus with all the competition now, racing games have to bring something new or really standout in some way. After Forza 5 this one might not feel especially new outside of graphics and the boost cards. As a fan though that stuff can easily be easily Overlooked. Look at how well Halo or God of War sells. Fans support those games and the flaws aren't seen by them. The person that's not the fan that just bounces from game to game, has his/her fun and moves on to the next game calls a spade a spade. (Usually)
Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised on launch day. (If my girl does not go full mario maniac on me since mario maker releases on the same day)

Top 10 Rarest Cars in Forza History

KeenGamer: "See the top 10 rarest cars to ever appear in Forza history! Thousands of cars have been featured in Forza since launch and only a handful of them have been really difficult to obtain or, in current state, impossible to drive around with. Although they were once obtainable, it's only for a limited time and, most times, for a certain price."

I thought this was going to be about the rarest and most valuable cars in the game, based on real life manufacture numbers and value.

What's the benefit of delisting games? Curious.

Italiano12345671714d ago

Theres no benefit. They just dont renew the licenses for the songs and cars so after the 15th u cant buy it

mandingo1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

Oh licenses. That makes sense. So if you have it digitally already you can still play it you just cant buy it?

Cobra9511714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

Yeah, the expiring-licenses thing is a blight on the scene. There literally ought to be a law. Once something is licensed for a product, it should never become an impediment later on. Simple consumer protection. In racing games, both the cars and the music would be locked in place. The developer can't add newer car models, or different songs. I don't see why that would hurt the profits of car companies or artists. Newer games would have to license the newer cars and songs, or even the same ones.

Edit: mandingo, that's right.

rainslacker1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

Saving on licensing costs.

@cobra

They could pay more for perpetual licenses, but after 4 years, chances are they arent going to be making much of a return on the game anymore.

lodossrage1714d ago

again, a music license issue. This is the same reason Driveclub is getting delisted next year.

I'm sorry, but if music rights can be the cause of a product being delisted, they need to either have unlicensed music because this is ridiculous. This is actually another reason to be concerned about an all-digital future.

bolimekurac1714d ago

or hopefully when ugly things stick their head out like this music license issue, that the companies do the right thing and find a solution so this doesnt happen, then we can complain if they dont. Digital games is fairly new so why dont we first see if the companies fix these issues that pop up. not that we shouldnt be heard and to let them know about these issues but at least lets not attack them for no reason

lodossrage1714d ago

@bolimekurac,

They've already had years to deal with this. This isn't the first instance of license music altering a game in some form. Crazy Taxi wasn't even allowed to be released with the original soundtrack and many of the real world stores in the game were cut for licenses.

I know it's not exactly' the same, but the issues is close enough that the industry as a whole should have realized this would be a problem even back in the ps3/ 360 era win crazy taxi was re-released for modern day.

traumadisaster1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

Oh crap idk about drive club, I’m so glad you mentioned it, and I just happen to be in this article. I’ve been wanting that game but was waiting until ps5 to get it. Now i need to check into this cause hell I’ll buy it now if I need to.

It looks like there is a hard copy version, so I can pick that up cheap, the online stuff which I don’t usually do is what goes away in 2020, and it can’t be bought on psn

KickSpinFilter1714d ago

Oh you should def get Driveclub such a great game now after server/updates. One of my all time fav racers. Nice mix of Arcade/Sim. Not Sim, Arcade or Sim/Arcade.

rainslacker1714d ago

I'd highly recommend bikes if you get driveclub. Lots of fun. The vr version is also good if you have psvr.

About the only thing you're going to lose with the delisting is the online functions as well. Driveclub is playable in SP with lots of content though. It's just being part of a club and user challenges or throw downs won't be available after they shut down the servers.

DaDrunkenJester1714d ago

Or it's not that big of a deal since it's a long running franchise and there is already the newer versions you can still buy. If you already own FM6 you can still play it.

spicelicka1714d ago

This is a definitely a huge concern for an all-digital future. Along the fact that they can control whatever price they want you to pay even 5 years later, like Destiny and Call of Duty. You can't even buy the original games anymore, they just re-bundle them and force you to pay full price again.

WiiU-Dude1714d ago

It happens in other entertainment too. I have seen DVD series held up for years because of music licensing issues. It is annoying. I agree with the person that it should be a one time deal. With the creation of a product, things like music licensing should be done with that product going forward. Such a headache apparently.

Good thing physical copies will always exist for purchase in a thriving used game market.

CobraKai1714d ago

There’s at least 3 people who like games being delisted; never to be played again.

Software_Lover1714d ago

But you still have to download the data unfortunately...…..

traumadisaster1714d ago

I just bought this a few months ago on a very cheap sale, then I think recently it was added to game pass.
