Dishonored Definitive Edition has been released and if you're wondering how is it look like compared to its older version, then have a look at this video. Xbox 360 vs PS4 Graphics comparison.
Enjoy.
"I have a confession to make. I have committed a grave sin. That sin is having no plans to buy the recent God of War for the PlayStation 4. I know, blasphemy, right? I do understand that it’s an amazing game with a great story and crisp visuals, however, those are still not enough to pull me in. That’s because single-player action and adventure games no longer interest me." -- PlayStation Enthusiast
Oh well...you're missing out
*continues to play single player action/adventure games*
I know right…Boy do I love the "These are what games I like (and/or don't like)" type of opinion articles (that don't really mean anything to anybody else)…
And of course this one is tailored toward one of the most popular PS4 games of the past couple years…no doubt to try and bring in as many eye-balls as possible…
Can't wait for this same author to recycle this exact same article in a month and a half... (this time with Spider-Man in the headline)…to get more page visits!!!
This is from playstationenthusiast.com. Its pretty surprising they aren't towing the company line.
Two things are certain. 1. People LOVE god of war. And because of this fact 2. You can get good clicks saying otherwise.
Sp is showing that it still has legs despite the likes of EA insisting that it doesn't.
As much as i hate to use the word: enter the shills?
Or, could just as soon be someone fishing for clicks and went after a popular title to get them.
@DrChevalier - "This is from playstationenthusiast.com. Its pretty surprising they aren't towing the company line."
Actually its not surprising at all…Being the millionth and 1 article lavishing praise on God of War will get ZERO clicks …especially 3 months after all the other articles have done the same thing…
But if your one of the very few articles on a pro-playstation site to say your NOT interested in God of War…Now your completely different & thus you can more easily stand out and draw a lot of attention to your article
How do you consider yourself a gamer if you don't like to play single player games??! Gtfo.
Popular recent game, pulls in clicks and therefore ad revenue, especially if it's a controversial opinion. Same reason we saw so many "WHY BOTW AND MARIO ODYSSEY ARE THE WORST GAMES EVER" articles last year.
I doubt most care anymore, it feels as if the game came and gone, just like that.
"God of War and single-player action/adventure games no longer interest me"
Then you have a problem its because of people like you today devs are moving to service based and online and MT BS I personally love SP games and they are here to stay
Opinion articles like this no longer interest me.
Does anyone care what style of games one random person likes or dislikes? I like the color blue. And no I didn't read the article. I see it tagged as opinion and the title and figure like more it's just some boring clickbait article.
My god. Agreed. Agreed. Agreed.
*continues to play single player action/adventure games*
Why is it always one or the other with these people? It's either Xbox or Playstation. Multiplayer or no Multiplayer.
Like, is it not humanly possible for these people to just enjoy two different things?
These people forget that single player games is what brought gaming to where gaming is today. If it wasn't for single player games there would be no online multiplayer games today unless we're talking about card games and chess and checkers but those even get boring fast.
Single player games have evolved nowadays and feel more like an experience then just fun.
People tend to forget that games were actually multiplayer focused on conception. Tennis for Two, SpaceWar, Pong. And even when games were still single player like Pac Man and such they were still extremely popular with people getting together and playing in arcades and the like.
This notion that Single Player story games are what made gaming what it is, is ludicrous. Gaming had always been a social function.
@Jinger
You forget the crash of gaming with the million copies of those games you mentioned sitting in a landfill somewhere.
Gaming had a resurgence under the NES with sp games like SMB and The Legend of Zelda.
@IntheLab
Lol nice job being wrong. Also NES still had some amazing Co-op titles like Contra, Battletoads, Marble Madness, Tecmo Bowl, R.C. Pro-am, Double Dragon, Mario Bros, SMB3, TMNT, Gauntlet 2...
I mean, you'd probably have a shorter list of games if you just counted Single Player games... Multiplayer/Co-op is a staple of gaming.
" If it wasn't for single player games there would be no online multiplayer games today unless we're talking about card games and chess and checkers but those even get boring fast. "
Says someone who obviously didnt grow up in an arcade playing multiplayer games that have nothing to do with single player games.
They don’t forget they just never knew. When I was a kid I was made fun of for all the games I played. These kids think it’s fashionable now. Gaming is not the same
@Inthelab
Can't say I totally agree with Jinger but your statement is wrong.
Oversaturation of the market with tons of unfinished products (Crap) led to the crash of 1982.
Also, there was tons of single player games on the market.
Did you forget about E.T.?
I remember when games were criticized for NOT having MP.
But since the early days for me, playing COOP or competitively with Player 2 has been a staple of gaming. Narrative driven, deep SP experiences were the exception to the norm.
Teens today grew up with PS2 onward, though, so I understand their views are different.
Embarrassingly I used to play ET like crazy. I never figured out wtf to do or how to get out of the pit but I loved it haha
That's your right, personally - single player games is the primary and the only reason i enjoy my gaming hobby with rare, occasional multiplayer for the variety.
I think you are missing out on quite a few excellent games in near and further future but - that's your call.
Single player games are the ones that have moments that you will remember forever, multi-player games are seldom memorable.
I can recall dozens of great moments from single player games, but no such luck for multi-player. I've been playing overwatch since I got it dirt cheap last week and if I look at my stats I see I got a 38 kill streak, apparently, that's pretty good, but I can't remember anything about it, it's just one of many matches that are just a big blur.
I don't agree with the author view but can definitely mention you some memorable moment in multiplayer or coop games.
- playing 200 matches in a row of Ken vs Ruy in Streetfighter Alpha
- DOOM on PSX with link cable: me with a chainsaw vs rocket I started screaming at my friend while rev chainsaw (it was his 1st match) he ran and splattered himself on the wall with a rocket.
- My 1st match as the trapper in Dead by Daylight
- 8 players in Saturnbomber man
- Diablo2 perm Kill a guy that wanted my stuff with an assassin (left stuff outside town with traps, the guy goes outside to check stuff, Hostile key hit and Voilà no more Paladin lvl 42.
HAAAA good time!
And one last
TADAAAAAAAA! from Blood (the good old bind keys for when you just killed someone with style)
https://www.youtube.com/wat... (at 5.00 for Tadaa)
I think it just depends on what you call a memorable experience! I can recall many singleplayer and multiplayer memories as I find joy in both of them. For example, playing Divinity: Original Sin was a blast and funny adventure that used both of my friend and I's intelligence to solve problems our way. Or, when I (recently) played Baldur's Gate and met Minsc and Boo, the best companions in the game as they are extremely funny and memorable in their dialogue! Another would be playing Splatoon 2 and Siege and getting a little sweaty and clutching for the team. Also, playing through Shadowrun: Dragonfall and making the hard choices that MY character would choose as a "by-the-book" shadowrunner - not me.There's a lot of moments to be had in all games because it all depends on where we have fun the most I find! It's also why I love ShadowPlay and collect little bits here of my gameplay from all games that I found really great. One more example, just recently, I finally completed a very hard level in Metro 2033 Redux on Ranger Hardcore and did not alert any guards. Had to record it as I saw it as an accomplishment! Anyway, sorry for rambling, but I hope you got a good understanding as why you can have great, memorable moments in all games!
I guess this PlayStation Enthusiast guy won't be playing any single player Mario, Zelda, or Metroid, right?
I don't know if I'd classify Mario or Metroid as action/adventure games. The older Metroids maybe, but the newer ones have been first/third person shooters. Mario has always been a platformer.
Those games he mentioned are even 8-10 hours long. This article is just trying to form an argument using the same fallacies we often hear about SP Games. I can vouch for Horizon, God of War, and Bioshock that these games have content and replayability.
''I do know that most of my gaming time is occupied by online games such as Destiny.''
ok
I think he pretty much wrote it as a counter to that other article that got a lot of hits, so he wants to put a negative spin on it and see how many hits he can get. This doesn't even seem like a legit article. It feels like satire.
There's going to be games you like and games you can't really get into. I didn't finish Dishonored because I couldn't get into it. There's lots of games l've played like that and I couldn't get into them, but I'm not going to act like ALL single player games won't interest me anymore. That's silly.
Some of the most popular games in the world I can't or couldn't get into. I just move onto game that I can get into. I wouldn't ever project my lack of interest as worthy of an assertive article, and probably only mention it if it were relevant to some other conversation.
He also host the Nintendo Enthusiast website so I guess he wont be playing any Nintendo single player games soon, right?
Destiny isn't a great game that's the thing it's ok but not great where the games you mentioned are great I just picked up Horizon and I'm loving it.
I clicked and read the article but what I get from it is another very ancient saying, 'So what?'
God of War sold extremely well so there’s plenty of people that are interested in single player games. Then there’s Spider-Man coming out soon and I’m pretty sure plenty are interested in it. Single player games sell enough to be worth producing.
With that said I’m happy that I’m currently playing masterpieces like Persona 5.
Why don't you tell us what flavour ice cream you don't like while you're at it. We're all dying to know
Are you not entertained?
Are you not entertained?
So you ain't playin' any Nintendo SP games anymore, right?
Or are Nintendo SP games the exception to your opinion?
I am finishing up Quantum Break currently and I don't understand the hate for it. It's a great game.
Not hating on the game. Pointing out Vasto is all about single player action adventure when it is on Xbox.
What's with all these negative GoW articles lately? I think there have been 3-4 in the last 2 days.
This isn’t even really about gow the author just used it to get people to click and the other article the author loved the game just didn’t like the puzzles which I found kind of pointless to write an article about but oh well
Today's journalism is pretty much about luring and offending people enough for a click, then delivering pointless, badly thought out articles that are mainly worthless to the reader.
It's a shame, as the more it goes on, the less likely people will enjoy reading. Real writers get lost in a sea of hacks, and no one will trust journalism at all...
Which is entirely viable, because all I see is bias, propaganda and clickbait for money. Hope it kills the current wave of media soon.
Well xbox got bash articles every day for 4 years i think a few sony bash articles will be ok
I don't know why but for me if you only play multiplayer game and despise singleplayer you're not really a gamer in my book.
Singleplayer is the soul of gaming, it's that experience you live by yourself.
the reason why is because your are irrational... by your logic a Pro gamer who holds titles for multiple fighting games and doesnt enjoy single player games due to the lack of challenge and how bad even some of the best gaming stories are... is not a real gamer.
mind you i enjoy singleplayer and multiplayer games.
also mind the first games (tennis/spacewar) were multiplayer.
Awesome. Meanwhile, multiplayer, expiration date based, online-only games don't interest me either. I guess we're even.
Ok. I'm gonna go read an article on why I continue to enjoy epic single player games.
Okay… They still interest millions of other gamers though. But, thanks for sharing your opinion I'll file it under I don't give a crap.
I still love them, but they are less important to me now. I generally play more online games now
And why does the world need to know what no longer interests you?
Don't do things that don't interedt you. It's that easy.
Using an electrical lawn mower don't interest me anymore. Am I cool now guys?
That's fine, have fun with Frotnite and all those microtransactions. I'll keep enjoy amazing games while you have the one terrible game.
I like to mix it up. Now I'm really enjoying multiplayer focused games. But suddenly I just want some change and there's nothing like a good AAA singleplayer story driven game for that.
It's very trendy to be negative about something popular, it makes people feel that they are different from the crowd. Then they like to write long opinion pieces like this with a divisive title that will cause lots of clicks, which that person uses to massage their soul. It's all a bit pointless really.
I like both single player and multiplayer games. As a matter of fact about 70% of my game collection is single player games. Even then, most of my time is spent with multiplayer games.
Whatever. My most hyped games next year are action games. DMC5,Bayonetta 3 and Daemon X Machina.
Go without internet, after thats all you have to play it will not be a problem anymore. Same with retro games. They will look just fine after that's all you play. You can adapt to the old just the same as the new.
Uhhh, now prefers to play with stuffed unicorns and is easily amused by shiny objects?!
Just messing. Sounds like youre experiencing some burnout. Change it up and try a different genre altogether or you coukd take a complete break from gaming and try something new.
Thanks for sharing. Bye now. Can't wait for that new game+
But... what else is there to play? MMOs? I mean those are cool for a while but get grindy.
Single player games are the lifeblood of gaming. They are what will continue to evolve this medium.
I am gonna have to disagree with you on that one. Single and Multi player both will continue to evolve this medium. Single player games are not the lifeblood of gaming.
This guy doesn't sound very much like a "playstation enthusiast." Even though that's the site he apparently represents.
That's fine. They will ALWAYS interest me. Especially since they're single player.
Bet you’re a massive COD fan tho huh bruh?
Yeaaaaa I see youuu nodding your little head.
Ohhh GOW approved to me that people and kids can be ignorant as Atreus. So it isn't sci-fi or myth anymore.
GOW and SP games really interest me, moreso than multiplayer online. I am old school when there was no internet and actually more into the retro consoles more than I do the newer ones, so when they stop making SP games that is when I will no longer buy new consoles.
It's not so much action/adventure single player games that are boring me it's the cinematic walking simulator aspects of those types of games and the adding a feature because it's popular check box design that is boring me. The pendulum needs to swing back to enjoyable and unique gameplay experiences where the story reinforces that rather than be the main selling point. For all the people that will disagree I'm not saying I hate those games I am saying that there has been a glut of them over the last 4 years or so and I personally am over them. Really hoping Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead can break this mold.
Glad to know how you feel!
Now should I care?
Heck, I don't plan on buying an Android phone in the future! Perhaps I should write an opinion article on the matter.
these type of cheap articles only one agenda ''get website traffic'' :D
Single player games are my top reason to be a gamer. I can enjoy multi-player games too but Single player games are a different and more rich experience for me.
I am glad we have companies like Sony who truly believe in single player games and are giving us the best of the best.
On a flip note, multiplayer games don't interest me. I like longer sessions of play without death where I can play at my own speed.
Seems a lot of sites lately are desperate for clicks/views. They resort to create anti GOW articles or mainly Sony's first party games & have some sort of headline saying "game sucks, boring, disappointment, scores 6/10 or no longer interests"..etc
I'm not going to fall for their clickbait articles nor am I interested in reading why they think the games sucks. So I give them the benefit by not clicking their articles :)
Totally agree i wont pay more than $20 for a singleplayer game as i know i may not finish it.
I pretty much only want to play single player, story-based games and my wife likes to watch me play them as well.
People play games for different reasons. I have friends just like this. They play games more than me just not SP games. Doesn't make them any less of a gamer. Different strokes.
Not sure what to make of the article, gaming fatigue perhaps or like you say the same game formula.
What I didn't get is you say your from a third world country and have a family and need games with bang for your buck, OK I get that but you could just play these sp games when there on a sale or pickup it up 2yrs from there release date.
Says single player is repetitive and formulaic, yet plays multiplayer games that have you doing the same thing over and over.
I have 2 problems with this article:
1- The author voices his disinterest on a game he didn’t even consider trying based on the fact it is similar to other games. The only similarity between GoW & all the other single player games mentioned is that it’s a single player game.
2- He seems to guage games based on the number of hours spent playing as a return on investment. One must remember it’s not the quantity but the quality of play that brought us to this day, & GoW has that quality from beginning to end.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I mean come on before you knock it, try it first.
He didn’t buy god of war because single player adventure games no longer interest him!!!!!
BOO THIS MAN! *throws hat at stage*
Just kidding, congratulations...
I read the article. You will be missed and you may be missing out. Shame money separates so many people from experiencing these beautiful and imaginative video games.
shit opinion piece, it's hard to respect an opinion when it is structured to make it look like there is something wrong with single player games.
That's good for you I guess. I still want lots of high quality single player games on all platforms.
It's the other way around for me. I can't stand cliche multiplayer zombie shooters, MMOs where you absolutely have to work together to get anywhere because of job systems and stupid MOBAs where all people do is rage at their own teammates. Give me good single player games. Games that I can play at my own pace in my own way, where I can feel badass and powerful instead of being a peasant just because devs have to take an 'economy' into account. Don't get me wrong there are certainly good multiplayer games out there and they certainly can be a lot of fun, but they usually just aren't meaningful.
When single player games stop to exist I will quit gaming for sure , I play only for them and for a good story and so you cannot have that in MP game with toxic ppls that always try to cheat and f**k up the game for others.... so go back in your cave if you don't enjoy / like SP games.
There seems to be a targeted campaign against this game . Why is there a negative article about this game every day now? Especially weird since it's been out for months now.
Who cares, we are still going to love and enjoy single player games forever and ever! go play some fornite you noob
they are still imoprtant as not every one wants to play online all the time, pluss a great story line always get me hooked
Sucks to be the author...no games give you a sense of adventure like them.
Why not both? As long as its economically feasible there will be single player games. I know that my most anticipated games are mainly single player games w some having a multiplayer side (Spiderman, Red Dead Red 2, Just Cause 4)
I'm only here because it's at the top of n4g right now, we got to stop giving these opinion articles the time of day. Who gives a crap what some random person thinks. ...wait, ....guess I just screwed myself there. Who cares what I think as well I guess.
Sucks for you. Might as well switch to xbox if MP games are all youre looking for
what will we ever do without him playing god of war and single player games .... our lives are ruiiineeed!
I’m not sure this guy was ever interested. I think it’s funny that these new gamers think they know. They don’t
Why not just one up this “I need some attention” article and just claim that all games no longer interst you.
Shame these opinion pieces have to be splattered with with news and stuff people actually give a rats butt about.
So? That is your choice, well and good. Millions, however, will disagree and say you are missing out and you will not care. So we don't care you don't like God of War or single player games.
Does any care, I don't like muesli or porridge?
Yeah they still interest me more than any mp with a imitation story. It's also why I'm skipping fallout 76 this year despite being a huge fan
sounds like an entitled brat to me
back in my day we had square blocks for spaceships and chunky triangles for a boss
be happy with what you get you don't know how far games have come since then
I feel opposite. After starting online on ps3 with the awesome COD4, playing most of the COD games in the years gone by and loving the battlefield series I really don't have much desire to play online games anymore. I have missed so many great games because of m,y focus on online gaming. Loving single player games again. Currently playing DMC 4 after just completing DMC. Single player is the essence of gaming
I don't have a problem with single player games. I just think they shouldn't cost as much as multiplayer games. There's way more value and longevity in mp games.
So, a crappy mp game should cost more than an epic sp game, because you can play it longer? Nah, I'll pass on that grand idea.
Thanks for thinking my idea was grand but yes Nba2k, Madden, COD, Battlefield, Halo, Racing games and so on should. If they are crappy to you don't buy them. Why pay 60+ for a game that you finish 1 maybe 2 times and not play anymore and where pay 60+ for a mp game that every experience is different? How could you complain about paying less for an "epic singleplayer game" anyway?
Hmm... I like single player games. Maybe not linear. These games now-a-days like Uncharted, Tomb Raider, God of War... you'll play them for 30hrs and then be done with them. I want something I can play the story and still have something to do afterwards. The Division, Grand Theft Auto, and Destiny are the ones that come to mind, that provide a solid story campaign with plenty to do once you've completed the story. I'll be fair, Destiny's story isn't all that compelling and leaves much to be desired. But that game is about the endgame and PVP. And I know I'm missing out on some great story telling. It's just kind of how my gaming has evolved I guess as I've grown up.
ive never been a god of war guy as i dont like the hack n slash style games, none of them have interested me but i do love me some single player ... but thats fine, if you want crappy mp infested micro transaction cancers as your gaming experience you are definitely in the right era of gaming because of people like you thats sadly what we get a great portion of the time :/
Sorry to hear. To each their own, not everyone games the same. I like a healthy mix of everything in doses. I get LOST in games like the Witcher, God of War, but also still find time to play the multiplayer games as well. Cant ignore my friends!
You can just wait until they hit $20 if the length bothers you. It's what I do for short games. Horizon Zero Damn was fine at full price though.
So trade in your PS and go buy an XBOX instead of writing articles about how you dislike the appeal of Sony games.
I am pretty much the opposite. I don't have the time any more to keep up with the multiplayer games so I mostly just play single player.
I don’t get the love for MP, I hate it, can’t stand to play it. SP is the only way for me unless it’s a co-op game. Online MP battle capture the flag, TDM and the sort get boring fast to me. It’s the same crap over and over. Run here! Hide here! Campers! Blah blah blah....it just sucks
I game on all platforms but my console of choice is xbox, I do like multi player games but I really do enjoy a really good single player game with a good story e.g halo 1,2,3 doom 3, dead space 1,2, the last of us, oblivion, fable to name just a few. I really do think this is just a click bait article to get people fired up, I could be wrong.
I'm about half way through it and you are absolutely right, don't understand why it got such high scores.
A sin for not buying God of War on PS4? Please, I don't have plans to buy it either, because while I do acknowledge that it's a great game, it's a great game that I'm personally not interested in, and I'm not going to let the popular opinion hate on me for my choice, or tell me otherwise.
If you feel like action/adventure single player games don't interest you anymore, that's perfectly fine. It's your choice, and you have your own preference. Don't let popular opinion ruin what your preference is or isn't.
I may as well have written this article... haven't finished horizon and keep going back to total war warhammer lol. Battletech is awesome too!! Been saying the same and getting negged to the ground but good to see theres more of us. Co op titles are a decent middle ground I can still get into
I'm actually starting to go the opposite way. Online and multiplayer is rapidly losing my interest. I'm starting to enjoy single player games more and more again. Just can't be bothered with competitive play anymore.
This shit is enough if you don't like single player games don't buy them. And to talk about God of War you're not a gamer. Cuz that game a true masterpiece.
Prison escapes are always a great time. Here are 15 games in which the player made a daring prison escape.
Slide alert. Its 2017. Seriously. Are these cheap hit hungry sites still doing this to potential readers?
Doing what? Please clarify. I came to the article, and went to the site not to read it, but just to see if The Great Escape was on that list. Yes it was. Great game. Like Hitman in a way. I really would love to play it again, and I saw the movie because of the game. Anyways I'm glad this article made me think of the game again, and Chronicles Of Riddick.
Do you not know what a slide show is? There was nothing in the article so valuable that readers should be subjected to 1998 web page layout designed to garner hits.
Yes I know what a slideshow is. Yea it is stupid. If they wanted to do a slideshow we all know it could all be a slideshow on the same page.
Your right nothing valuable like gameplay elements, and such was mentioned. I agree with you, but I wouldn't of clicked on the article if it werent for The Great Escape. Also The Thing was a pretty cool movie game. I want to play them again.
Prisoner Of War is one of my first memories of original Xbox. I sometimes think of that game and how good it was. I need to replay it.
Clipping Error review Dishonored, the first game in the now series, which has seen a new release only this month with Dishonored 2. They cover the story, gameplay, and give their final verdict, though without a derogatory number like most reviewers. They explain what makes it such a fantastic game, and why they love it so much, four years after it's initial release.
very meh imo.
mad though because i cant remember it looking so bad on 360.
Looks ok.
Not a day 1 purchase but definitely going to get it a few weeks before Dishonored 2.
It appears as though this isn't the best remaster as they didn't even boost it to 60fps. Ppl were destroying GoW 3 Remastered even though it was 1080/60, but i wish Dishonored Difinitive was remastered as well as GoW 3. 60fps would've been beautiful, but i don't think Bethesda/Arkane's tech prowess could handle that.
I got it for 20$ so i'm okay with minor improvements, it does look better.
Honestly, a sturdy 30fps is far better than Dishonored's original framerate. Dishonored was an awesome game but it ran horribly last gen, it felt like it was 20-25fps. It used to stutter and jutter, but now it runs smooth.
Fantastic game, but this remaster isn't really a remaster. More like a tiny increase in textures.
More like a port than remaster. All I really see is just more color. I hope this trend dies.
