WASDuk Reviews Risen 3 Enhanced Edition
"It looks prettier and with everything included it’s the best version of the game consoles at least. But that being said there hasn’t been much else done to improve any other aspect of the experience, so if you hated the original despite the facelift you’ll still dislike Risen 3 Enhanced Edition."
The story of the latest addition to the Risen family starts by following the children of the infamous Captain Steelbeard. On a mission to explore an ancient temple on an island they discover, they are in search of riches beyond their imagination. Instead, what unfolds is the death of the nameless hero you play as after being attacked by a demon, leaving your sister and your crew with nothing to do but bury your body.
Jason Redmond writes- Risen 3: Titan Lords launched last year for PC and previous gen consoles, and despite it being the expected rough-around-the-edges game as the rest of series has been, it had enough charm and fun Action Role Playing elements to maybe make it worth your time, if you're looking to scratch that type of itch.
When Risen 3: Titan Lords was released on last generation consoles, the response to the game was lukewarm at best. Despite featuring a large, interactive, world for players to explore, critics rightly derided it for its clumsy combat and multiple performance issues. Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition hopes to make amends for the problems associated with the original release. Unfortunately, this hasn’t quite gone to plan, as can be seen by the overwhelming amount of problems that are still present.
I actually like this game!
So does it play exactly like the gothic and risen games? Played and loved gotic 1&2 and the first risen, so i might just have to pick this one up.
Gothic 2 in particular is probably my favorite pc rpgs ever. No joke, played it like 10 times
The Risen series has gotten a lot of undeserved hate over the years, and I can only put it down to being "too British" for anyone but the UK to like, which is weird considering it was devved in Germany.
This was one of my favorite games from 2014 and this series is one of my all time favorite western-style RPG series, ranking up there with Gothic, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls.
I'll never understand the hate, but I suppose there are people out there that would be baffled by my lack of enthusiasm towards Halo, God of War, Gears of War, Bioshock, and other such popular series.
As they say, different strokes for different folks.
