How Tearaway Unfolded’s Companion App Sold Me On The Game

MVGN writes "I must admit, I was never sold on Tearaway. Even though the game received stellar reviews on the PS Vita and early play sessions for the PS4 title have been all positive, the game never really caught my attention. It’s weird because Tearaway seems to be a game that I would be drawn to because it just oozes with style and seems like a title that I would want to play. Alas my friends, I have never played the game nor did I plan on playing it until now. I just got done watching the new Tearaway Companion App trailer and I must admit, I am impressed. Being a father of 5, I am always looking for new and interesting games for the family and this one seems like it’s going to fit the bill perfectly. The thought of my son or daughter walking through the games world while I draw new and interesting things on my tablet and then sharing them while they play is mind blowing.:

I care and my gf certainly cares, many of my friends care, so ur wrong.

Platinumed Tearaway on Vita and i can't wait to platinum Tearaway Unfolded with all the unique features/campanion app it'll be a blast for my gf and i to play together. Plus Tearaway Unfolded has 50% more content than the Vita version, essentially a whole 1/2 a game was added to the already existing game.

If you preorder Tearaway Unfolded you will get upgraded to the Crafted edition which comes with a bunch of goodies. September 8th.

@ spacedelete

1st off it's not bs, they added a ton of new content and i have actually played some of it, it's real, sowwy : (

2nd it was upped to 1080p AND 60 frames/second. Texture work was done and lighting was tweaked as well.

3rd if u ever actually played Tearaway u'd know that it used the Vita's features brilliantly and NOT in a gimmicky way.

4th the controls were entirely reworked to utilize the unique features of the DUALSHOCK 4 and PS4. U couldn't be more wrong.

Hooray games!

spacedelete3190d ago

50% more content ? thats PR talk. all they did was remove the PS Vita gimmicks and raised the resolution to 1080p.

RosweeSon3190d ago

Your loss, tearaway was and still is one of the best games on vita, shame they won't be getting it but Vita's loss is PS4's gain, great game and this looks to be even better.

Snap this magic title is soon out! Thanks for the reminder i cannot wait for it.

IamTylerDurden13190d ago

Can't wait for Tearaway Unfolded September 8th, i love the unique uses of the DUALSHOCK 4, blowing gusts of wind into the world w/the touchpad, trapping enemies inside the controller, shaking the controller and spitting them out via touchpad to see the enemies are extremely dizzy and discombobulated.

GALAK-Z, Rapture, Until Dawn, Soma, MGSV/Mad Max, and Tearaway Unfolded are all on my imminent to get list, sorry Wallet. GALAK-Z, Rapture, & Tearaway Unfolded are already payed for.

Have a good rest mate, but do come back pleez

fr0sty1330d ago

Media Molecule are currently among Sony's top developers, even if they aren't taking in top cash. Those who don't own Dreams are really missing out, especially owners of PlayStation VR.

Amazing guy amazing team amazing games I wish him all the best

Sophisticated_Chap1330d ago

Why? It took them more then an entire generation just to get one game out.

fr0sty1328d ago

It took them almost a generation to get the best, most innovative, and most ambitious play/create/share game ever made.

10 Games That are Best on Vita

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Thanks to the timing of the Vita’s release and its relative power compared to the home consoles at the time (PS3 & Xbox 360), it saw the benefit of a number of these late ports which have remained the ‘definitive’ versions to this day. It’s these games that I’m aiming to look at in this article – titles that are best on Vita by virtue of extra bells and whistles, tweaked controls, and content, or in some cases just a general feeling that Sony’s portable hardware is the most enjoyable way to play."

Persona 4 is what made me buy a Vita as I didn't own a PS3 + I've always been big on my handhelds. The game is so fantastic and was worth the Vita purchase by itself imo

himdeel1869d ago

This just reminds me I need to purchase a 2nd Vita while they are still under $300. Great system and there are so many great games to play.

bluebenjamin1869d ago

Vita would still be here if sony didnt shift all its focus to Ps4 in 2013

IanTH1869d ago (Edited 1869d ago )

It was such a great handheld. As great as the 3DS is, the Vita is greater in my eyes. The hardware is fantastic, and everything about how it functions is miles ahead of my 3DS XL. The 3DS had some good games and certainly had better long term support, no question there, but I wish so very much that the Vita got that instead.

Fingers crossed for Sony to give handhelds one more go...maybe...Hey! I see you starting to structure a reply! Don't rain on my parade man!

Protagonist1869d ago (Edited 1869d ago )

I agree the Persona fanbase would not have had the fervent fanbase that is now which is similar to what P3P did with the PSP. I know because I´ve been promoting these two games for almost 10 years now and I´ve seen the fanbase grow which each game getting more attention, once people have been recommended getting the games and having played the games.

Profchaos1864d ago

My list of games I loved on the vita is probably going to differ greatly to the normal user as most players stuck to the Indies or jrpg but I love big budget titles I absolutely loved playing
Killzone
Borderlands 2
Call of duty black ops declassified (despite being universally dismissed as a bad game)
Ratchet and Clank remasters
Uncharted
God of war remasters
GTA vice /LCS (which also defined the PSP for me)
The walking dead was also fantastic on the vita
The battlefront PSP games were actually so much better with a right analog stick
Assassins Creed

There was probably more I was a huge supporter of the system when I had the opportunity to buy a vita game over the PS3 version I absolutely took that chance I think I was one of the only people I know that still have their vita hanging about and had a 64gb card for it.

It's a shame it never took off full quality console gaming on the go is fantastic I think the switch is proving this I think the vita was just a victim of it's time it was slightly to early to take advantage of better hardware and it was born in the middle of a mobile phone arm race and people thought that mobiles were actually close to surpassing the vita graphically with Devs like EA focusing purely on iOS and Android for mobile games and shifting away from portable titles on the vita.
