Legendary Capcom Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi talked about future game development on PS4 and the future of the Devil May Cry franchise.
From IGN: "Following Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda, popularly known as "Suda51," Capcom veteran Hiroyuki Kobayashi announced his move to NetEase Games back in August this year. Today, NetEase revealed Kobayashi's new studio as GPTRACK50, located in Osaka. At Capcom, Kobayashi worked as the producer on the Resident Evil series as well as Devil May Cry.
“I was at Capcom for 27 years. During my time, the company became a lot bigger and a lot of new staff came in,” Kobayashi told IGN in an exclusive interview.
“I worked on a wide array of titles at Capcom, but I wanted a new challenge,” he explained. “Of course, it’s not like Capcom didn’t allow me to try out new things, but now that the company is a lot bigger, things are different from the way they were when I joined the company as a freshman back in 1995. Everything now needs to be approved and things just take more time to get greenlit. I’m the kind of creator that wants to be able to deliver a new experience while it still feels fresh, and I had been thinking of creating my own studio to make that possible.”"
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the Producer behind the Resident Evil franchise, has recently left Capcom after 27 years of service to join NetEase.
Despite being the producer for classics in the past, the last game credit he has is megaman 11 and has been producing anime/CG movies since.
So nothing will really change game wise at Capcom. Hopefully he got a huge raise and will actually produce a netease game i will want to play.
So basically everyone left Cacpom to other studios , PG , Tango studio , Chinese studios ... damn Capcom are you that bad that everyone leaving you and only your Gen Z millennial devs left ?
Capcom has released the first in a series of developer interviews celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil series. The first Resident Evil launched 20 years ago today, on March 22, 1996.
The first video features producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi. The videos that follow will feature commentary from some of the other team members who have played a vital role in developing the Resident Evil brand into what it has become today.
Capcom says it will have anniversary celebrations for Resident Evil continuing “over the next year” and that “the team is already hard at work to deliver some amazing new surprises.”
Hey Capcom where is Monster Hunter for PS consloes??? release a proper game for Vita or PS4 at least
I really hope they make a new DMC game in the style of 1 - 4.
They just need to have another story revolve around Dante and Vergil (like DMC3) and it would be awesome. I know Vergil turned into Nelo Angelo and stuff but I don't think it was ever elaborated upon what happened to him after DMC1. DMC3 Special Edition is easily in the top 10 of my favorite PS2 games, they should go back to that formula and improve upon it.
oh.. what happened to fully being committed to mobile gaming... maybe they realised it was a horrendous idea.
How about a new Onimusha game? Or at least a remaster version of them both? I miss the series.
