Sony: Morpheus is 'the VR platform' for Social Experiences

VRFocus reports on Sony Computer Entertainment's (SCE's) Andrew House talking about the social aspect of the Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) HMD.

Christopher3238d ago

Eh. NOt sure about that when Facebook owns Oculus.

bmwfanatic3237d ago

Always something negative about sony from you huh.

Christopher3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

I love these comments.

My PSN: http://psnprofiles.com/Loki...

My XBL: https://account.xbox.com/en...

It has zero to do which platform I like the most and utilize the most (hint: PS4), it has to do with having a brain and using it to think logically.

Probably why I'm considered both a PS fan by some and XB fanboy by others here.

@bwmfanatic

"Always something negative about sony from you huh."

maybe you shold check your own comment history....on the first page alone these quotes:

"Horizon alone destroys ANYTHING on xbone nice try though."

"The gameplay looked way better than halo."

"B/c will do nothing for sales."

Lol I was about to say, the irony in this slogan.

IGN actually explained this best. By allowing you to play others in VR (be it a FPS or whatever) they deal with a major issue with VR. Its the sense of isolation. This is of course intrinsic to immersion but I agree that it would be healthy to be able to share those experiences with others.

This is social VR:

I just don't see Facebook sitting back and not creating something akin to Second Life for people you connect with on Facebook or the like.

Oculus does seem to have more support. But Sony has some talented devs that can create great experiences.

REDDURT3237d ago

I think that's about even

Social and VR should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. I shudder to think of what's to come with VR and socializing.

Rookie_Monster3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

Sony spent less than 5 min at their conference talking about Morpheus. This thing along with its price tag and lack of support from Sony is going to be like the move.

akurtz3237d ago

Did you use the power of hololens to look into the future?

joeorc3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

Good I guess its better to get the failure out early before 3 years has passed , than right? So I guess it would be better if Sony just outright just canned the Morpheus and not even try anything new?

/LMAO

In other threads we had, Sony better not put too much talk about Morpheus, now not enough...lol

DigitalRaptor3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

Yeah, they were too busy destroying the competition with long-awaited megaton game announcements, and showing their exclusive open-world RPG that looks tremendous.

Meanwhile, Sony has brought around 30 VR games to E3 that gamers are still getting to experience hands-on. I hate to break it to you, but the Move is still supported and is a part of the Morpheus experience.

mariopasta35d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts35d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos35d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts35d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa35d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
