Developed as a brand new IP for mobile platforms, SQUARE ENIX has worked with UK based developers MEDIATONIC LTD (Amateur Surgeon) to create the game and bring the world to life. The project has had a collaborative approach, with Japan-based Yumriu Corporation supporting development and, keeping it in the SQUARE ENIX family, the game also features characters designed by Ryoma Ito (FINAL FANTASY TACTICS ADVANCE) and music by Ryo Yamazaki (FINAL FANTASY XIV).
In all, Heavenstrike Rivals offers much in replay value due to its innovative design, intriguing story missions, large unit recruitment options, and endless multiplayer battles. If you can forgive the micro transactions (which aren’t necessary for most of the game unless you want to overpower the multiplayer facet), then you’ll find yourself a free mobile game that provides legitimate strategy RPG elements and a new face of digital card games.
Square Enix has launched a new event for its smartphone strategy-RPG Heavenstrike Rivals that lets you unlock Secret of Mana characters. The event ends on August 11th at 2pm GMT.
Heavenstrike Rivals from Square Enix does just about everything right with this free-to-play strategy RPG. The story itself is well written with some surprising depth especially from a mobile game.
