I'll certainly give it a shot soon since it's free

kaiserfranz3446d ago

I had high hopes for this game. Not sure what will become of Bungie after this failure.

MSBAUSTX3446d ago

Yeah I agree. I already tried a demo and it was called the beta. It sucked so I didn't buy the game. But thanks any way Bungie. I think I will go play all the campaigns in Master Chief Collection now.

JeffGUNZ3446d ago

I respect your disinterest in the game, my point of that reply was Kaiserfranz saying this; "Not sure what will become of Bungie after this failure". He is making drastic assumptions that bungie could be doomed and I provided information that the game is supported by lots of users on a daily basis. I know it's not everyones cup of tea, but I am a sucker for loot-type games lol.

JeffGUNZ3446d ago

Failure? Since you didn't like it and it didn't get 9's and 10's on every reviewer, it's a failure?

When is a metacritic score of 76 considered a failure?

http://www.metacritic.com/s...

When is 3.2 million users logging in daily a failure?

http://www.engadget.com/201...

And when is a game that broke new IP sales records a failure?

http://mountiewire.com/dest...

The game might not be your cup of tea, but a lot of people love this game. This is just the beginning of Destiny and it will only get better with time. The new update is great and the DLC is actually looking to be great if you follow the recent data mined details.

MSBAUSTX3446d ago

It is a failure to him because the game didn't deliver what he wanted from it. It is the same reason I canceled my preorder. It is the same reason there are lots of articles talking about it not having a good campaign mode at all. It is a fantastic multiplayer shooter. I admit that.

But it delivers nothing in the way of compelling story or campaign mode. Thus I consider it a failure considering how hyped it was. If you enjoy it, great. I am happy for your. We did not enjoy it. Is it so hard to give us the same respect?

This game sold because of hype. Hype that it, for the most part, did not live up to for a lot of people. A game selling well does not mean that it is a good game. Like I said before, I am glad you like it. I do not and have already moved on.

Palitera3446d ago (Edited 3446d ago )

What will it become? The most desired developer by publishers.

You're forgetting that it is not about quality. It is about M O N E Y . Pure and simple.

They made a sales record breaking game which is, above anything, in the core of the design choices, a platform for selling DLC.

On this subject, Bungie is THE BEST developer on the market. Expect lots of BS to come from them, supported by friendly marketing (previews) and heavily aggressive marketing in the next years.

respekanize913446d ago

lol there is no such failure you are talking about. Get used to Destiny and Bungie cause neither of them are going anywhere....ever. Doesnt mean its a perfect game but a failure my friend it is not.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter333d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell332d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig333d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast332d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g332d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka332d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai483d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface482d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard480d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
