PlayStation 4 is Winning, But What's Next?

Almost immediately after PlayStation 4 launched in mid-November of 2013, it was clear that Sony was on to something. The company managed to sell a million PS4s in 24 hours, and the console was only out in North America. It was an incredible victory for a company that previously announced over a million PS4 pre-orders that were presumed to be spread across multiple territories, from the US to Sony's stronghold of Europe to its home country of Japan.

PS5.
@Abash. I stand corrected, good day to you sir.

That's a good question. X1 not outselling PS4 means MS is amping up exclusives, but what about Sony? They are already financially unstable and know they don't need to take risks since te PS4 is already selling well without emphasis on games.

According to PC Master Race

"Sony understands where console gaming is going, and they understood it way before their competitors."

-damn right!

@ George

"...te PS4 is already selling well without emphasis on games."

Irony at its best.

Which manufacturer designed a console around TV (with gaming as an afterthought)?

Take your time. I'll gladly wait while you wrestle with that.

Games as well! Traditional and VR. :)

Good read. From the article:

" Before long, Sony will need to deliver those triple-A goods, and the truth is that, at least in 2014, the company doesn't have much. The Order: 1886 is supposed to come out this year, and the much-delayed Driveclub is, too, and that's basically it."

Well that's assuming they have nothing to show at E3 for release this year. Also the importance of multiplats are understated in this article a bit.

Good times though. Both PS4 and the Xbox One are doing well. This fierce competition is what the industry needs.

Sadly, it doesn't matter what they show at E3 in this respect. Sure, there's gonna be some awesome stuff that everyone will want. But none of the things they show will be out until 2015 at the earliest.

If they had any real AAA games to be released this year, it would have been shown at last year's E3. Luckily we'll still have games to play, just no exclusives.

MLB the Show 14 on May 6th. to tell you the truth, there is going to be a long summer drought for all three of these consoles as I don't see anything that is worthwhile over the summer unless you count TLOU HD in Jun by that is still a remake of an old game.

ShowGun9013661d ago

i haven't played TLOU yet (not completely anyway, just an hour at a friends house), so that will be a day one for me!

the show looks good, and im using the summer to pre-order a few holiday season games coming out! you know how it is, June, july, nothing... November? 12 games you want with money for 2 LOL!

What's next? They win some more.
